Metro Movies Presents: New Summer Movies Premiere This Week!

MIDDLETOWN-  The beginning of the film summer season began with a bang with such hits as The Amazing Spiderman 2, X-Men: Days of Future Past and Captain America: The Winter Soldier dominating the box office in the early months of the hot season.  Enter July and early August, with the exception of a lackluster Transformers sequel starring Quentin Phipps, the box office has been very dry until now.
      The Insider's spies around down have done many Google searches and found advance posters and film summaries for  upcoming films that plan to premiere at Metro Cinemas (next to the arcade) this August.  Enjoy and see you at the movies! If you are a Republican, keep in mind that Eric Kuhn claims we don't sit next to a certain type of folk.

1) Erasherhead- Starring Gerald Daley as Gerald Daley in a surreal film by master filmmaker David Lynch.  In the director's newest entry, the man that that brought the world Dune, Twin Peaks and other creepy shit follows the the topsy turvy world of a professional politician who will stop at nothing at keeping his hair clean and cow towing to the king of Middletown, Tom Serra during Common Council meetings. Lynch's cameras are able to get inside this complicated man, who enjoys a liquid lunch or two at The Elks and has to keep his territory alive during the council meetings.  Is he really at The Elks club, is it an illusion, why is there a midget riding a camel in a red suit sitting next to Gerry? This is avant guard cinema at its best and audiences have to figure out why the film is called Eraserhead? Hint: We know, trust us we know what happened last month at__________!

2) The Shining 2: Get off of my Porch-  Although there have been two adaptations of  Stephen King's  The Shining over the years, it is this re-telling that has audiences wondering what the hell is going on.  In the original novel, the protagonist Jack Torrence is an alcoholic writer who brings his family to the haunted Overlook Hotel to write his dream novels, soon strange things begin to happen.  Fast forward to 2014, where Media Solutions Inc has decided to change the story and the locale to make it more relevant to Middletown politics.  In the update, the protagonist is now named Ed, who is a very liberal person when it comes to everyone around him, but if he is questioned by those on the outside, the very thing he complained and griped about when he was not an elected official, he becomes evil and uses f-words in his Facebook posts.  It's all about the Benjamins isn't ED4ED?

3)Talento En Todos OS Tamanhos-  You have to love our boy Lesser, right? Here is a guy who is whiter than Elmer's Glue and is a member of the Connecticut House Latino Caucus because the guy claims his mom's bloodline was from Argentina. Yet, the Dem masses are embracing their boy due to his (was he even born in the USA? We're kidding!) heritage.  Film Synopsis: Lesser stars with CGI chipmunks in a story that chronicles how the three illegals jump the border and immediately get driver's licenses, voting privileges and Ebay cards.  Soon the three are adopted by the kind and interesting Drew family, where the three chipmunks are forced to work in the mayor's kitchen and cook all day for the 1st family of Middletown.  Look out for cameos by Joe Somalis as the Coyote and Angel Fernandez who the Drew's claim is fake latino.  (Rated R: For Mild Violence and references to interspecies smuggling)  Note: A sequel is already in the works where the Lesser character claims he invented the lightbulb. 

4) The Shannon Blair Witch Project- Starring (You figure it out) with proceeds going to the Sal Caracoglia I told you so Fund!  In this 'fictional' stunning documentary which will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in a few months, the authors take us on a journey of those that get away with things and those that don't.  Watch as a health teacher pushes a student to the ground and gets away with it because he is related to a former mayor and current Democratic Majority Leader.  Interviews with Michael Frechette, Betsy Palmer, the floor that Blair landed on, and $64,000 other good reasons to make it all go away. (Rated S - We are scared and we shouldn't writing this, trust us we are in Texas now.)

5) Malificant- Aging queen of the hill sucks the life out of the innocent and beautiful blonde  Councilwoman Mary Bartolotta.  Is she banned from the building, what's up with the Registrar's Office?  Who knows? Does anybody know? Hey Drew give it up, Lisa isn't going anywhere nor are her texts! (Rated GOOTB- "Get out of the building")

6) Face/Off -  In this stunning sequel to the July common council meeting former Mayor and current Mayor are forced to switch bodies.  Drew is Serra and Serra is Drew in a fight to the finish, with the amazing line of "I invented you!" said many times throughout the film.  Drew shows much strength as he cuts the strings that bind him during a broadcast of the common council and stands up against his former mentor. "It's on, bitch!"  (Rated R: For Nudity and lots of close ups of each character looking at themselves in a large mirror)

7) Illegal Alien- It's all over the news and guess what? Malloy says they are not coming here! It's an election year, he will say anything so don't vote for him. Neil Diamond once sang, "They're coming to America, they're  coming to America....TODAY," as usual Mr. Diamond was right, but the 'they' he is referring to came here legally. In this amazing and insightful drama, each liberal family across this great land of ours, adopts 1 or 2 illegals from Mexico and changes their lives forever that is until the sequel.  It is during part II, where the liberals realize they are not getting a stipend or a tax break for these kids, so they begin to build their own wall around Village District neighborhoods. Nimby!

8) No Commentary 4 Old Men-  In this saga of a powerful family, the big man in the State House has a lot to prove during his twilight years.  His councilman kid brother is on loose with his strange attempts to get his kin out of trouble in Glastenbury, but Joe has some loose ends of his own.  He's made some strange promises over the years, as the Chairman on the State's Aging Committee he has told his constituents that he can stop them from aging, and guess what? They believe him! He also brags about  the terrible roads in the state and is still in awe as to why his nephew did not get the athletic director's job. Can you say power vacuum?

9) The Deer Hunter- In this titillating sequel to Michael Cimeno's 1976 Vietnam epic, Planning and Zoning commissioner plays a rich guy pretending to be poor.  After his fellow activist, ED4ED drinks himself to death at the Remington Rand brewery, fellow villager Dic (no K) Wheeler juggles some shit and races his big green ass bus that runs on hummus and human tears to the rescue of a distraught and deranged Devoto who will not stop calling Dan Russo due to his interest in the planning and zoning chairmanship.  Watch the exciting action and Stephen will not stop at anything to get his way, there is an amazing montage where Devoto tears into a live deer with his teeth but in a tragic twist the deer is Phil Pessina, luckily for Devoto, Joyce Rositter forgot what she saw.  Music by Joe Gallo and Eric "Republicans Hate Black People" Kuhn.   Easter eggs: See if you can count how many Mac products Devoto has on his possessions throughout the film. (Note: All guns in this production were made out of venison which in turn is made of tofu!)

10) Misery-  In this horrific story of gluttony and greed, the councilwoman who demanded a tax break due to the haunting of her house is back and this time, she is god-damn pissed off.  All around town, she is dropping the immortal phrase of, "When I am mayor," or "I am running for mayor, will you support me?"  Special appearances by all of her relatives with whom she has gotten legal and illegal city employment over the years.   Summary: In classic horror fashion, Hope's character of 'the ghost', loses it when she discovers that her man Carl Chisem is having an affair with Sandra Faraci. Hope kidnaps the man and demands that he compose a pulp novel about her love for him-this is one good movie!  Look for a supporting role by Jimmy Streeto as the clumsy sheriff who ignores the criminal activity in the house because it's better for his career. 

Jason Serra Not Picked for Athletic Director

City Wins Round 1 of MX Zone Change Litigation, Allegations Against City & Commissioners Dismissed

Judge Aurigemma sustained  the City of Middletown's Objection to the plaintiff’s Motion to Amend the Record.  The  Plaintiffs, Jennifer and Jared Proto and their attorneys sought to add to the record 175 pages of e-mails and other documents the plaintiffs received via FOIA and to seek the depositions of Director of the Planning, Zoning & Conservation Dept. William Warner, Commissioner Ken McClellan (R), and Commissioner Molly Salafia (R) (despite Salafia's recusal  prior to the initial hearing before the vote).  The Court sided with the City and denied the plaintiffs' Motion.  The case is proceeding as submitted without these additional documents and without any depositions.  The Judge exonerates the commissioners and planning director of any wrong doing as the plaintiff's allege; finding there were in fact no illegal or unethical "ex parte" communications whatsoever.

1)    According to officials at Middletown’s Godfrey Library, there is a boatload of evidence that State Representative Matthew Lesser (stop posting on Facebook every two seconds, we get it, you took a dump yesterday) and Emergency Operations Management Deputy Director Angel Fernandez are indeed related by blood.  This corroborates Lessor’s claim that he is indeed Latino/Hispanic, and also clarifies that his connection to the nation of Argentina is Latino and not Aryan.  Heil Malloy!

2)    Open message to John C. Hall (chairman of the Jonah Center for Earth Air & Money), and the city’s energy czar: (WTF? Energy Czar- please!).   Although we appreciate your efforts  to bring youth from less privileged families to participate in Jonah Center’s Annual River Paddle event, don’t you think your energies would be better placed in getting  killer David Messenger off the streets?  The Middletown Insider will donate a cool $1,000 to your cause next year if you have the guts to bring  wife killer David Messenger to your event.  Please re-evaluate your decision on this one, the liberals may you let you off the hook because they don’t have to deal with the situation but this publication will not.  Incidentally, what the hell is an energy czar anyhow?

3)    Rumor has it that Mayor Daniel Drew called a  city worker to his office to offer a verbal spanking  about his reputed online comments made on his personal time as a private citizen.  Dan have you ever heard of the 1^st Amendment? Right, it’s over in China with your report.
  

4)    It’s official: former councilman and beekeeper Earl V. Roberts is seeking the Republican nomination for Mayor. The problem, the GOP has nobody to run and want to keep it that way. Perhaps they can run John C. Hall or David Messenger- what a team that would be. 

5)    After the new re-organization, something that was supposed to decrease the size of government breaking news: many positions open, but there is a huge shortage of Serracrats to fill those spots. Go figure!! 

6)    Paging Danny Drew, paging Drew, Danny:  Last week the state had an emergency management drill for disaster training in M-town, and guess who was not involved in the festivities? (Cause you know damn well if he was, his face would be all over the Mess the way he likes it) Yep, his name rhymes with Lan Lew or Stan Screw. Dan Drew was not present for any of this crucial drill, but no worries folkies, Drew’s chief of staff Joseph “WTF” Samolis made hourly broadcasts to inform citizens about the percentage of streets cleared from snow. 
  The National Guard stopped by Middletown and was turned away by the king of Middletown because "he can handle it on his own."  (Okay we mixed two events on this one, but read between the lines people.) 

7)    What prominent member of the Democratic Town Committee is a big racist! Nuff said!

8)    Which is greater: how many paychecks  Middletown gives to city music man Marco Gaylord or the amount of licks it takes to get the bottom of a Tootsie Roll.  How many jobs can this one many do? He’s got w-2 fever!

9)    The Department of Transportation to have a meeting (breakfast) to discuss the fate of the Route 17 to Route 9 on-ramp (by Harbor Park) aka the deadliest exit in Connecticut or Rear Ender Central.  You know it’s funny; Democrat Representative Joseph Serra, head of the Committee on Highways and Transportation,  has been in office for a ¼ of a century and this issue if finally being discussed.  Hey voters, you keep voting him in- good for you. 

10) According to www.newsjunkie.com: Connecticut State Representative Matthew Lesser, new member of the Latino group Menuedo & Hispanic Latino Caucus, is attempting to propose a bill that would allow all illegal aliens in the state to have a card that ENTITLES them to free car insurance. The program is called Lessorcare and he has already printed out cards at he Wesleyan University computer lab in hopes that his bill becomes a law.  Speaking of Wesleyan University, why is Michael Roth and the gang so proud of a  DROP-OUT who complains about rising interest rates on student loans? Does he care about the janitors and cafeteria workers who went on strike? Come Mathew let’s step up to the plate and help the real workers!

11)   Rosa DeLauro has been cast as Spock’s mother in J.J. Abrahams next Star Trek film entitled Star Trek 3: You Dumb Voters keep putting me in and I take Commie Money.

12)  This week Dan Drew took time out from his busy day to flip flapjacks with CT Senator Christopher Murphy and to chat up Rosa DeLauro about rising student loan rates. (Dano attended both "non campaign/political" events on City time ) Drew vowed to get on a plane if he has to solve the tuition hike problem.

13)  Thrice sold Remington Rand building to be leased to medical pot factory (HIGHER THAN A FRIGGIN, KITE) owners Thomas Chong and Cheech Marion who plan to film their next cannabis filled opus entitled: “Cheech and Chong Smoke Remington Rand”- the film will also star David Messenger, Mark Masselli and Hope Kasper. Note: Kasper has demanded that Chong hire son-in-law Joshua Burger to work on the set with the stipulations that he gets teacher benefits.

14) Netflix has announced that they will be filming a new dramaedy series entitled “The Mayor and his Mom” which will be available for streaming on June 30, 2013, unlike the the Common Council meetings which the City IT Department is STILL figuring out how to do!  The series revolves around an ex-mayor and his mom and the amazing adventures they endure and the conversations they have over pizza and donuts.

15) SCOOP: Most people in Connecticut are still waiting for the axe to fall on the CHC (Community Health Center) due to the Chris Donovan scandal.  Guess who has the blue form with all the evidence?  Shhhh, we’ll never tell. 

16)  PRISM, which is a program that the NSA uses to track internet usage, email, phones calls and other important private information of John Q. Public says it nearly impossible for a private citizen to track IP addresses. Translation ED4ED screwed up royally!

Ed: Supporting education doesn’t mean blind loyalty to the unions.  The budget issues could be solved
for everyone in one step. Freeze all raises for everyone.  Ta  Dah!!!!  Books and paper for everyone. But Noooo... Everyone gets paid and as the Soup Nazi would say, “No books for you!”  One also needs to remind you that you ran on the principal of ending all the lawsuits in Middletown.  A few months go by and you and your minions are involved in suing the Planning and Zoning Commission. I guess it's okay for you to sue, but not anybody else.  Your campaign slogan was ED4ED, we get it now- trust me the entire town gets it.  When were you going to let the villagers know about the Blue House LLC thing? Yeah, that one, the one were you went out of your way to outbid The Connection to keep certain elements out of your neighborhood.  F- Sheff v. O'Neil!

Ryan: We know you’re running for re-election, but you don’t have to piss and moan at every meeting.
We get it.  Just do what the Republicans normally do and mail it in.  Look to  Steve Gionfriddo for
advice.  How about getting a new  pair of shoes as well, those clodhoppers have been around since your were at Central Connecticut State University taking communication courses, driving the shitbox around the state. Who could forgot the Ryan mobile?

You used city funds to send your son to a special education school in Cape Cod compliments of Captain Freschette.  That's a lot of money that could have been spent to a child that is on the spectrum severely, right, you don't have to care because you are a liberal.

Sheila: Problem solved. Ted is not running again. There is not a spot for you on the Democratic line.

BOE Boogey: A Brief Summary of the Meeting

Brief summary of last night's Board of Education regular meeting.

 There was a presentation regarding reducing the number of special education students who are out placed. The gentlemen said that the average across the state is 5% whereas in Middletown the average number of special education students of the total special education population is 12%.  There was discussion of goals; the BOE would to send a consistent message throughout the system with a unified set of goals in 4 key areas.  These goals will appear in every classroom, the website and correspondence and presented at the teacher orientation in August.  

An item on the agenda caused a bit of discussion and that was the Memorandum of Understanding between the BOE/City and the Teamsters' Union.  There was confusion about how this MOU came about with Dt. Nocera first saying it was a result of the global settlement agreement between the City and the Teamsters; however, Dr. Charles did correct that and say it was result of negotiations with the Teamsters regarding their loss of a position by the outsourcing of the cafeteria services.  Dr. Charles stated that this MOU which basically trades the Director of Transportation position for the Manager of Food Services position (the Director of Transportation position has been vacant for several years and the previous administration had claimed that it was no longer necessary with the duties given to the Director of Facilities.  The Director of Facilities has retired and the duties now are being handled by BOE Administrators).  The thought is that by hiring a new director it will free up the administrators to do more education related duties.Board members Ryan Kennedy and Ted Razcka both disagreed with this saying that now was not the time to hire another person at that level of pay, may be with benefits 6 figures, when they are laying off teachers.  Kennedy expressed concern that the contract with the outside company for cafe services may not work out and be terminated in a year or so but once you hire a director you'll have them conceivably for 25 years or so.  The Administrators now handling the transportation duties stated that it was no longer working well, they were being taken from truly educational duties; that by dividing the duties all over the place was not a good plan, not a safe plan.  BOE member Sheila Daniels stated that being able to go forward with the hiring of the outside company for cafe services would enable them to hire a company with nutritional background so that now the children with have " healthy" meals.

At the end of the meeting, Board member Ed McKeon made a statement directed to the Common Council members regarding the upcoming vote on the city's budget.  He stated that no one can call themselves a supporter of education if they make those kinds of cuts that he is hearing.  He said that the BOE has worked diligently to get out of the hole; worked hard to give the city has asked for.  Even though they had done what was asked of them they don't seem to be getting anything from the other side.  He stated that we are on the brink of very hard times.  Layoff could be as many as 25 or 30; these are not scare tactics but the budget proposed by the BOE was cut to the bone already.  He felt that it would be unconscionable and unfair it the BOE funding is cut.

After that, the meeting was to move onto communications but it appeared that the recording got stuck and meeting must have ended soon after.

Roundup: BOE News Update

The more things change the more they stay the same.  Last night’s Board of Education meeting was just that.  The administration would speak, the entire board (minus one gadfly member) would drool (or maybe it should be spelled drewl).  The current members were elected for change. They showed up fired Mikey, hired Pat, hired a few other new folks and then put their hats and sun glasses on and said that was too much like work.  Now they sit in their lawn chairs (or in some cases stand on a porch) and watch the tax paper bend over more and more each year.  Here some highlights from last night’s meeting you may or may not have missed. Lots of $$$$$$$$$BOE$$$$$$$$$$

1.       IT Director $102,191.00 a year.  “Hey Mayor What Happened?  Shared Services, NO?  Really? So, were back to two IT Directors in the City? And you had time to go see Obama on Monday? Is he helping Middletown? “

2.       The board is so tired from working sooo hard, Mitch, Eddie, and everyone’s (especially Ryan Kennedy) favorite TED dy Bear didn’t show. Thanks for representing the voters. (Absent).

3.       The board approved the approval of hiring a temporary Facilities Director from a private company called Sodexo. They won’t even tell you how much this is costing. 

4.       No. focus group, no workshop, doesn’t even tell the people who are affected. Just jam it down their throat and they will have to deal with it.  WESU suburb, the Pikes Ravine area, was moved to Macdonough Elementary back in 2009. Bad times, people sold their house because of this. Now less than five full years later back to Snow Elementary and Farm Hill they go.  People need to ask if one board member who lives in the village district had anything personal to gain.  The committee who recommended this is chaired by Ed McKeon. His neighborhood now gets moved back to Farm Hill School.  Fishy?

4.5   Sheila Daniels- If you speak against something, most people would then vote against it.  We all know you’re related to Earle, but you do not have to act like him...

5.       The board went into executive session to discuss non-renewing of contracts.  What the Insiders sources at the BOE building are saying is Mayor Drew lied again.  No layoffs????  Not so much!!! Over 50 layoff notices went out to teachers. Tommy’s son is safe, is yours?

6.       Also, did anyone hear Ryan Kennedy mention the BOE met on Saturday morning- 9am?  Hello TRANSPARENCY?? I think Seb Giuliano needs to send Chief McKenna over there again to chase those fools out of there? Shake em down!!!!  24 hour police presence, I think so!

7.       Why was Former Councilman David Bauer outside peeking into the Chamber?  It was seventy degrees out and this guy is wearing a winter hat!

The Board of Education will be in front of the Common Council for their budget workshop on April 16, 2013 at 7pm. Phil & Joe – we get it, it's for the kids. Drinking game anyone?

Citizens Sue P&Z Commission over MX Zone Change

Jennifer Proto and husband lawyer Jared Proto are suing the P&Z Commission and Acquisitions Holdings LLC over the MX Zone change which passed last month.

 Earlier in the month Jared Proto filed a FOIA request asking for a years worth of correspondence from the commission and department. BOE member founder and editor of the Middletown Eye Blog resident of downtown Ed McKeon, along with the Proto's lead citizens in protest of the zone change. McKeon is one of 7 village district residents who comprise Blue House LLC; the members of which bought a older home on College Street to fix up and sell. On his blogs and facebook pages, Ed McKeon solicits residents to send money to the legal fund set up by the Proto's to sue the commission.

After the vote, Director of Planning and Zoning William Warner issued a memo to clarify questions regarding alleged  historic properties affected by the zone change.

This week the Historic Preservation and Design Review Commission will review the design proposed by Centerplan Development LLC for the property at the corner of Washington St. Centerplan was the proponent of the MX zone change.

What's The Plan, Stan? More Thoughts On Centerscam......Firstly, let me say that I only occasionally deal to any great extent with so called "facts", finding rumor, hearsay, gossip, speculation, and innuendo to be much more reliable tools for getting at "the truth" of a given situation. That said, let me state my basic premise for this blog and then dance with a few details in due time......My basic premise is that Centerplan's plan for "Developing" the area in question may in fact be the best thing that ever was about to happen to Middletown, CT., America, or the whole world, but THAT is NOT Centerscam's motivation for attempting to do this thing.......Centerscam [and all like minded parties] have one motive and one motive only.....and IT IS NOT TO BENEFIT MIDDLETOWN!.,.....okay?
Can we get that little detail straight? A [small] bunch of REALLY BIG DOPES has "a plan" to make some fast, stupid money and that, Ladies and Gentlemen is all there is to it.....okay? Does ANYONE [even N.E.A.T.] not see that?! Okay, great, so some figuratively and literally Big Dumb Dopes decides dat dey is gonna make some money, hey, you gotta problem wit dat? No, I didn't tink so, so dey starts da process of changing the rules so they don't have to break the rules [clever, eh?], and a bunch folks who "fear change" jump up [and down] about "Oh my gosh. you are going to ruin the neighborhood that I have been investing blood sweat and tears in, why?" and the answer comes back; "Shut up, we knows whats is best fuh everybody.....forget about it, eh?" So that is clearly where the the thing currently stands, sits, or whatever it is; now, for some speculation......NEAT gets an office in the new development and Mayor Dan gets no second term, having shown himself to be "More whore than Democrat" for his support of this idiocy......even as supporting Linda Mcwhatshername cost Republican Mayor Seb G. and Councilman Davis B. their respective Offices [or "job" as it's regarded around these parts].
