Senator Dante Bartolomeo Has "Lapse of Memory" at Candidate Forum

Wayne Winsley, 2012
Congressional Candidate
Last night, at a Candidate's Forum held at the Westfield Resident's Association annual meeting, Sen. Bartolomeo denied having said in a press release from February 13, 2013, that she had called for mandatory psychiatric evaluations for ALL students in early 2012.

She demanded the questioner "prove it"; cocksure that he wouldn't have a twenty one month old press release in his pocket.  Which he didn't.

Well, last year I wrote an open letter to the senator, in which I cited, verbatim, a portion of her press release; "Students should be able to receive mental health evaluations/treatment, and districts need some recourse if parents and students refuse to participate."

It seems pretty clear, that the threat of recourse against parents and students, removes any semblance of a voluntary evaluation.

(See my full post, here;http://www.middletowninsider.com/2013/06/letter-to-editor-open-letter-to-sen.html)

Former congressional candidate, author and patriot, Wayne Winsley, also wrote an article on the subject, in which he cites the entire statute that would make these mandatory evaluations a reality; Proposed Bill No. 374; AN ACT REQUIRING BEHAVIORAL HEALTH ASSESSMENTS FOR CHILDREN and addresses the issue better than I did.

In Wayne’s article, he says, “The proposal is Dangerous, because the government has now created a small, “big brother” that will follow my child around for the rest of her days.”

Read Wayne's full article, here;http://waynewinsley.blogspot.com/2013/02/your-kid-gets-checkup-from-neck-up-need.html.  http://www.cga.ct.gov/2013/TOB/S/2013SB-00374-R00-SB.htm

Senator Dante Bartolomeo is a dangerous person; an advocate for big government intrusion into the personal, private lives of children and families.  She is also a liar. She must be voted out of office.

Winsley Responds to Kuhn: CT GOP Represents ALL People

The Middletown Press published a letter from resident Eric Kuhn in which he implies more or less all Connecticut Republicans are racist bigots by saying "the Connecticut GOP must choose between appealing to black or anti black voter."
Billboy Baggins responded to Kuhn's accusations in an essay read here:  Below former congressional candidate Wayne Winsley responds to Kuhn's letter. Winsley's response can be read in it's original format on his blog here: http://waynewinsley.blogspot.com/2014/08/a-letter-to-letter-to-editor-of.html  Thanks Mr. Winsley!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This in response to a letter published by the Middletown press from resident Eric Kuhn

In order to say that "Nationally, the Republican Party is the party of non minorities." One has to totally disregard the fact that one of the founding pillars of the Republican Party was the support of non-minorities in particular black non minorities.

To Mister Kuhn's assertion that Republicans live to prevent non-white voters from voting, I can only surmise the mountain of evidence in Connecticut and in many of blue area across these United States, that many a lifelong Democrat career has been nourished by preventing non-white voters from voting any other way than Democrat straight across the ticket.

By the way, when it comes to the so-called voter suppression by Republicans with such things as voter ID LAWS, in order to make the argument work, one has to start with the assuming that black voters like me are too stupid to figure out how to get proper identification in order to vote. Somehow requiring me to show identification in order to buy alcohol does not unfairly prevent me from buying a six-pack. Somehow requiring me to show identification in order to get a library card does not disenfranchise me from the public library system. Somehow requiring me to show identification in order to board an airplane does not unfairly suppress my equal right to access air transportation.

The Republican Party, of which I am a proud member, champions the values of individual freedom for ALL people that enabled this nation to rise to a level of greatness heretofore unseen in human history.

Too many members up today's Democratic Party seek and hold power through class warfare and racial politics.
It is not Republicans that continue to perpetuate the myth that black folks and other minorities are not quite smart enough, tough enough, or hard-working enough to succeed in America without help from the government. That is a Democrat philosophy.

I have a question for you.

How is it that here in the great state of Connecticut, the party that, according to mister Kuhn, hates black people, is the only party that has ever sent a black representative to Congress and is the only party that has black candidates for federal office?
The Democrat Party, in Connecticut which according to Mister Kuhn, looooves black people, appears to only like black folk up to a certain level.
Let's be honest here folks, the top tier of Connecticut's Democratic Party is as white as a Klan rally.
If you are a person of color who wishes to seek federal office, you need to roll with the GOP.

In 2012 when I, a proud American who happens to be black, virtually walked in off the street and announced that I would be seeking the Republican nomination for United States Congress in our third district, there was only one question. "Do you think you have the goods? If so, go for it."
That is as it should be when it comes to the dreams, aspirations and goals of every American. The United States of America is the one place on earth where regardless of where you come from or what you look like, if you think you've got the goods, you can take your shot.

Too many of our friends on the other side of the aisle have forgotten that fact, or worse, are choosing to ignore it for their own purposes.
No, overt racism, regardless of party, is not dead in America. But neither is the soft racism of low expectations which the late, great Ronald Reagan spoke about. That particular brand seems to rest mainly on only one side of the aisle.

It is precisely because of the misguided, ill-informed and bankrupt philosophies of racial and social elitists and political misanthropes like Mr. Kuhn that I am, and shall remain, a proud member of the Republican Party.

Connecticut's Republican Party need only choose to represent all of the people in a manner that protects the freedoms of all of the people.

I grew up poor, Black, inner-city dwelling, and was raised by a single parent, in my case, my great grandmother. I’ve been on welfare and actually used food stamps. In short, I’m the picture that many liberals hold up when they stridently declare, “We have to do something to help these poor people!”
Here’s what I know from first-hand experience. Food Stamps, while helpful in the short term, will not lift you out of poverty, only your hard work and individual choices can do that. There is not a single government program that has ever made one person financially independent. Only you can do that for you.
The major flaw in the well-meaning government largess aimed at helping people that look like me and others who don’t, and winning the “war on poverty” is that it is killing our work ethic and sense of individual responsibility.
This nation cannot survive if the majority of the population is depending on others or the father figure government to do the achieving for them. We must dial back the entitlement mentality or our Republic will indeed be lost.
If you agree, please consider giving a generous donation at the link below to help inspire our high school students with the courage to pursue their dreams on their on terms and to see their education as way to do it.
Thank you.

Winsley Withdraws from CT GOP Chair Election

Wayne Winsley
In a letter to the State Central Committee, candidate for GOP party chairman Wayne Winsley withdrew himself from the race Sunday.
Just this evening via facebook and his twitter page, former GOP party chair Chris Healy gave a statement that he is not considering a run:

"Thank you to the many Connecticut Republicans who offered kind words of encouragement and support. While I am humbled the attention and respectful of their request, I am not going to pursue the leadership of our Republican Party Tuesday. But I will be out there with you doing what I can to show the voters that we have the ideas, the experience and the guts to lead our state back to greatness. Congratulations to Chairman Jerry Labriola and his team. United, there is nothing we can't accomplish."

Candidate Ron Wilcox remains in the race and the vote will take place tomorrow. Wilcox is challenging incumbent  Jerry Labriola Jr..
Candidate Ron Wilcox
Winsley's letter is below:
----------------------------
Sunday June 23rd 2013

Dear State Central Committee members,

When I announced my candidacy for Republican Party Chairman, I did so with the belief that I am the candidate best suited to serve and work with the State Central Committee in addressing some of the most pressing concerns and challenges facing our great party at this time.
All of those concerns that compelled me to seek the Chairmanship still exist and are just as valid today as they were on June 14th when I announced my candidacy.

• Improving the perception of our party in the minds of Connecticut voters.

• Communicating our traditional Republican values and principles to the current generation in a manner that is applicable to the current generation.

• Delivering our message to all corners of the state and to all voters of the state.

• Uniting and energizing our traditional base and all of the varying points of view beneath the Republican banner and moving forward as a team.

If these concerns are not addressed quickly and decisively, our great state and the wonderful and hard-working citizens that call Connecticut home will bear the brunt of our failure.

The stakes are far too high to risk fragmenting our great party with a four-way race for Chairman.

With that in mind, I immediately withdraw my name from consideration as next Chairman of Connecticut’s Republican Party.

Of the remaining candidates for Republican Party Chair, the person that I believe will be most effective in fostering the conditions necessary for Republican victory is Jerry Labriola Jr.

Based on my own due diligence and conversations with Chairman Labriola, I believe that our current Chairman is ready and determined to move forward with a new energy and vigor to address those pressing concerns which necessitated my entry into the chairman race and all of the other challenges ahead.

I look forward to working hand-in-hand with our Chairman and the state Central Committee.

I immediately release all of those State Central Committee members who have worked tirelessly on my behalf and pledged their support and their vote to me.

I urge the State Central Committee members to conduct all due diligence, deliberate with great care, and cast your vote for the remaining candidate who will most effectively address those concerns listed above and who will be best able to work with the committee to accomplish our mission which is to elect Republican candidates on the local, state, and federal levels.

I stand by ready, willing, and able to contribute all that I have to that effort.

Thank you and I look forward to working with you to help get Republican candidates elected in Connecticut.

Guestblog" Conservative Roundup: Palin Smith's Pick for GOP Chair

Below is a roundup of Conservative events being held this week. Complied and submitted by Palin Smith. Opinions are that of Palin Smith and do not necessarily reflect that of Insider Staff.

 GREETINGS PATRIOTS

Next Tuesday, June 25, the 72 board of directors (State Central) of the CT Republican Party will vote to either retain the current mediocre party chairman or select a much better choice for the future. For us there is only one clear choice. That is Ron Wilcox. I could never improve on Bob MacGuffie’s words, so I forward Bob’s endorsement with my own second.
Connecticut Patriots:

Next Tuesday a vote will be taken to determine who will be the next Chairman of the CT Republican Party. We are trying to get a seasoned solid conservative elected to that post, which will represent a reinvigoration of the Party and a re-establishment of the Party on the conservative principles of limited government, individual liberty and free-market economics.

That candidate is Ron Wilcox of Newtown. Ron is a life-long CT resident and Republican who has promoted and fought for these principles all his adult life. He has demonstrated and proven his belief in our principles, and has the business experience and political savvy to lead the state party. Following is a link to a brief presentation of his ideas for the party which were delivered in Barkhamsted on Monday, June 17.
Connecticut Republican Party Chair Candidate: Ron Wilcox
Seventy two state central members, two from each of the state's 36 senatorial districts, are the electors who cast the ballots. A list of the state central members at this link
Choose the one from your town (or the nearest neighboring town) and click on the e-mail link and ask that member to cast their vote for Ron Wilcox. If you want the Republican Party to be led by a solid conservative, and again stand on principle, please send that e-mail.
Thanks so much.

In liberty,

Pomfret Center: Last Monday three of the four invited Republican legislators attended a town hall meeting hosted by local RTCs. For the 2nd time Senate Minority Leader, John McKinney was absent. Most of the public crowd had hoped to express their anger about the new gun law that Mr. McKinney had abetted in collaboration with the gun-grabbing Democrats and Governor Malloy.
One man in particular spoke eloquently to the issue. Doug Cutler of Putnam.

“I am seeking the chairmanship for one reason and one reason only, to help turn the Republican Party into a winning party once again. GREETINGS PATRIOTS

Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch is coming to Connecticut.
With the terrorist attack in Boston still etched into our national psyche, you may like to hear in person from the man who is alerting America to the encroachment of Sharia Law and its intended goal of destroying the Bill of Rights.
Mr. Spencer will be lecturing at the weekly meeting of the Connecticut Restoration Coalition

The gun grabbers preach public safety in their relentless assault on the Right To Bear Arms. Countering their argument by reciting the 2nd Amendment will not make a dent in their devious designs. We must deploy logic and employ emotions, more than history, to try to breach their beachhead in the hearts of America’s parents.
We attended a North Haven town hall meeting, a public hearing in Shelton and the Hartford CCDL Gun Rights Rally in the past week. Some of the best arguments in favor of the citizens’ traditional rights were individual testimonies about personal safety and public safety.
When you speak to friends, colleagues and family about your own gun ownership,  don’t instantly erect a barrier by invoking the Constitution. Many people don’t know or don’t care. However, they do care about the safety of themselves and their family. Listen to them explain how they would have reacted to the Watertown, Mass. Lockdown, and then slowly reel them in.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is also a very strong political theme that threads together all three of these events.
If someone takes a public oath and violates that oath, why would anyone want to have anything to do with that person? Why would you have a system that doesn't punish those that intentionally lie and deceive? How long are you going to be lied to and make excuses for your abuser?
We’ve seen the song and dance routine. They say the law might have been worse.
Well so be it. Remember the prophetic words of Benjamin Franklin and apply them to your own position in the debate that has yet to be fully enjoined.
“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
No safety was obtained. They said it but we all know they lied. They imposed a disgusting set of more regulations. They think we are all petty criminals. They will try to balance the budget on the backs of gun owners. It’s all about money. It always is. They don’t give a damn about public safety!
And we know who they are - we’ve got the list of 133. And that brings me to where we stand today. If you haven’t yet heeded the call to organize for the 2014 election, please heed it now. Send me the name of your state senator. Do you know good people, future leaders whom you would trust more to represent you in Hartford than those 133 scoundrels who voted YES?
We can’t wave a magic wand and change history, but we can change history by volunteering our relentless toil and our sweat. Build your own political groups. We can empower a congress of patriots early next year that can serve as a counter-weight against the two political parties. Now is the time to find and recruit our own brand of candidates for state senator and state representative.
Many patriot groups are coming together in identical purpose. Connecticut is NOT a blue state. We’ve been brainwashed to believe that hogwash. We all desire more rights and less taxes. We all want more freedom, not less. We want to retain our gun rights. We Republicans, We Democrats and We Unaffiliated. There are hundreds of bad laws that need repealing. That’s plan B.
It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds. (Samuel Adams)

Wayne Winsley: Connecticut Public Health Committee needs to hear you!

Below is a essay originally published by Wayne Winsley former senate candidate in the 2012 election cycle and conservative blogger. The following is republished with permission.
Views expressed do not necessarily reflect those of the Insider staff.
It is published in its original form on Wayne Winsley's personal blog "The Conservative Capitalist" here: http://waynewinsley.blogspot.com/2013/03/connecticut-public-health-committee.html

Connecticut Public Health Committee needs to hear you!

A proposed bill in Connecticut needs your help getting out of the Public Health Committee so it can go to the House and Senate for a vote. House Bill 5737, “An Act Concerning the Use of Patient Health Care Information in the All-Payer Claims Database Program,” would protect your privacy by giving you the right to chose whether or not your information is included in the state’s All-Payer Claims Database, which collects, stores, and uses information from health care claims

You should be able to decide how and by whom your sensitive health information is used. Let your legislators know that having control over your medical data is important to you by contacting them and encouraging them to support HB 5737. You can see a full list of the Public Health Committee members and how to contact them here. To contact your own district Representative or Senator to ask them to vote for the bill, you can follow this link to find out who represents you.

Wayne Winsley: Is Is Discrimination Against Women Okay in CT Legislature?

Below is a essay originally published by Wayne Winsley former senate candidate in the 2012 election cycle and conservative blogger. The following is republished with permission.
We previously published the statement given by CT GOP chair Jerry Labriola calling for the resignation of State Rep. Hewett after his alleged sexist remarks to a female intern. Below, Winsley makes an analogy to the situation. Views expressed do not necessarily reflect those of the Insider staff.
It is published in its original form on Wayne Winsley's personal blog "The Conservative Capitalist" here: http://waynewinsley.blogspot.com/2013/03/is-discrimination-against-women-okay-in_7.html#comment-form

Is Discrimination Against Women Okay in CT Legislature?

At first it might seem like a silly question but in view of the Ernest Hewett situation, it needs to be asked.

This is what CT. State Representative Ernest Hewett ACTUALLY said in defending his now infamous “snake under my desk” comment.

According to The Hartford Courant, the New London Democrat told the paper that he

"purposely will not have female interns. My intern now is a male. I want to keep it like that. I've had female interns in the past that sit in my office all day. I thought it was totally weird and I didn't want another."
"That's why I was so leery about staying away from interns," he told The Courant. "I don't know what they're going to give me. They may give me a female, but I don't want a female intern. That may sound sexist but I really don't. That way that keeps me good and that keeps everybody else good." Read full story

Massive Purchases of Ammo by Federal Agencies=Police State?

The combined number of armed personnel from various federal agencies is estimated to now be around 120,000. That is a standing army folks and we were warned about that!

In time of actual war, great discretionary powers are constantly given to the Executive Magistrate. Constant apprehension of War, has the same tendency to render the head too large for the body. A standing military force, with an overgrown Executive will not long be safe companions to liberty. The means of defence against foreign danger, have been always the instruments of tyranny at home. Among the Romans it was a standing maxim to excite a war, whenever a revolt was apprehended. Throughout all Europe, the armies kept up under the pretext of defending, have enslaved the people. (James Madison)
The federal government is arming its departments to the teeth while simultaneously attempting to disarm the citizenry. Do you see a pattern here? Wayne Winsley does, Mark Levin does, as do the editors at Investor's Business Daily.

Why are the federal government's several agencies stockpiling billions of rounds of .40 caliber and 9mm hollow point bullets? Some of the agencies requisitioning large amounts of ammo include Homeland Security, Social Security and  Interior Department, not to mention those departments whose traditional roles are law enforcement; i.e. FBI, Treasury, IRS, etc.

Quietly, and under the radar, local police forces across the nation have become increasingly militarized largely as a result of goodies provided through federal largess.  Examples of such quasi-military equipment include armored vehicles, unmanned search robots, and aerial drones.

Constitutional scholar and veteran broadcaster Mark Levin sizes up the problem (Feb 15, 2013):

"The lack of a credible official explanation for such awesome ammunition acquisitions is feeding all sorts of conspiracy theories mainly centered on federal anticipation of some kind of domestic insurrection. I'm going to tell you what I think is going on.  I don't think domestic insurrection. Law enforcement and national security agencies, they play out multiple scenarios, they simulate multiple scenarios. I'll tell you what I think they are simulating: the collapse of our financial system, the collapse of our society, and the potential for widespread violence, looting, killing in the streets. Because that's what happens when an dconomy collapses, not talking about a recession, I'm talking about a collapse, when people are desperate, when they can's get food and clothing, when they have no way of going from place to place, when they can't protect themselves. There are not enough police officers on the face of the earth to adequately handle a situation like that. But I suspect that just in case our fiscal situation, our monetary situation collapses and following it the civil society collapse, that is  the rule of law, they want to be prepared. There is no other explanation for this. And having been close enough to law enforcement...from my days in the Justice Department I expect that they're running through these scenarios, just in case. Drones, domestic drones, an enormous amount of ammunition, not for the military, but for all kinds of law enforcement and quasi-law enforcement federal types."

Wayne Winsley: Why Does Government Want to Disarm You While Arming Itself?

Below is a repost  with permission of a opinion piece by conservative blogger Wayne Winsley and former senatorial candidate against Rep. Rosa Delauro in 2012. All opinions expressed are soley that of the author Winsley and are reposted as a courtesy to our reader. Check out the original post and more about Winsley here:
http://waynewinsley.blogspot.com/2013/02/why-does-government-want-to-disarm-you.html

In recent months we have seen proposed gun control legislation that seeks to do everything from banning certain types of weapons, limiting magazine sizes, to even taxing the bullets themselves.
Meanwhile, our government is literally buying bullets like they are going out of style.

The Department of Homeland Security is set to purchase a further 21.6 million rounds of ammunition to add to the 1.6 billion bullets it has already obtained over the course of the last 10 months alone
To put that in perspective, during the height of active battle operations in Iraq, US soldiers used 5.5 million rounds of ammunition a month. Extrapolating the figures, the DHS has purchased enough bullets over the last 10 months to wage a full scale war for almost 30 years.

This is not a conspiracy theory or even a pro-second amendment statement. I am simply posing a question that even the most ardent gun control supporter should be asking.
Why?
If your next door neighbor went to the local store and purchased 200 rounds of ammunition, many of you would be very concerned and want to know, “What on earth do they need that much firepower for, what are they planning to do?”

Well…your civilian government is stockpiling ammo at a faster rate than the military and at the same time seeking to restrict civilian access to firearms and even ammunition.
You might want to ask, Why, exactly, is the DHS stockpiling massive amounts of ammo?

Your Kid Gets a Checkup from the Neck Up Need it or Not

The following entry is an opinion piece written by Wayne Winsley * former candidate for Senate 2012. It was originally published here: http://waynewinsley.blogspot.com/2013/02/your-kid-gets-checkup-from-neck-up-need.html and passed on with permission.

General Assembly

Proposed Bill No. 374

LCO No. 2001
Referred to Committee on PUBLIC HEALTH
Introduced by:
SEN. HARP, 10th Dist.
REP. WALKER, 93rd Dist.
AN ACT REQUIRING BEHAVIORAL HEALTH ASSESSMENTS FOR CHILDREN.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 10-206 of the general statutes be amended to require (1) each pupil enrolled in public school at grades 6, 8, 10 and 12 and each home-schooled child at ages 12, 14 and 17 to have a confidential behavioral health assessment, the results of which shall be disclosed only to the child's parent or guardian, and (2) each health care provider performing a child's behavioral health assessment to complete the appropriate form supplied by the State Board of Education verifying that the child has received the assessment.

To provide behavioral health assessments to children.
Spotting a mental health problem early and preventing another tragedy like the recent one in Sandy Hook is important.

But as the parent of a school aged child, I find the above proposal dangerous, invasive, and outrageous.

Our well-meaning legislators want to ensure that every child whether in public school or home school, is given periodic behavioral health assessments, whether they need them or not, whether they have shown any signs of having a problem or not.

These assessments are usually given to children who have already been determined to be in need.  Now even the most well behaved child would be given these tests.

The proposal is Dangerous, because the government has now created a small, “big brother” that will follow my child around for the rest of her days.

You may say that they are just children and this record won’t follow them. But if your insurance company requires records, it may or may not affect their quality of care (pre-existing condition) in the future. If your child has gone through a stressor that would affect their assessment (divorce, family job loss, housing change etc…) they may now test as an “in need child” or “problem child” as mental health professional would tell us.

The proposal is invasive because unlike health vaccinations which are administered to prevent contagious diseases, this testing requirement now goes not only into our public schools which is invasive enough, but in the case of home schoolers it is even more frightening. Homeschooling parents have chosen to have freedom of religion, freedom of nutritional choice, and freedom of educational choices, but now the government has found a way to burst through those freedoms and into their child’s life.

The proposal is outrageous because the eight simple lines are so open to interpretation on so many levels that the potential for abuse and mismanagement are huge.

This proposed piece of legislation should never leave the committee room. Call or email your representative whether they are on the public health committee or not and urge them to stop this proposal in its tracks.
