Tillett to Run for Second District Senate Seat

Theresa Tillett today announced that she has officially filed the paperwork with the State Elections Enforcement Commission for a 2016 campaign for State Senate in Connecticut's Second District!

In her announcement, she urges patriots to support the Constitutional candidates by subscribing to, Liking and Following them on their social media pages and interacting with their election pages to help raise the search rankings.  "CT GOP candidates will need "All Hands On Deck" to work on flipping the General Assembly so that we can undo the crazy madness the democrats are forcing upon us", she says.

This is Tillett's second run for that seat.  In last year's election, she garnered more votes than there are Republican voters registered in Bloomfield.  For a first time candidate, that is an outstanding accomplishment and proves that Democrats DO cross party lines!

Hartford- As many the folks out there may know, I recently joined the black and Hispanic caucus up at the state’s capital. 

As ctlatino.news.com said: “When Lesser asked to join the Black & Latino caucus, there was some quiet head scratching in some corners of the State Capitol.  As it turns out, Lesser’s mother came from Argentina.” 

Well, I have to admit there were some folks out there scratched more than their heads when I announced my intention to apply and join the Black & Latino Caucus despite two terms of not being apart of it; I mean take a good look at me. My Edward E. Newman smile, and sandy hair- it all makes sense, I am definitely a Hispanic. This being politics, I realized that I would have to prove my heritage and I am asking the Middletown Insider to publish a photo of my puffy and smiley Argentinian face in a band I founded in the 1970s: Menudo.  It’s true folks, check Wikipedia, or ask the same people that claimed my buddy Daniel T. Drew took down a corrupt sheriff.   

            I clearly remember when my opponent in last year’s election bragged about her dancing roots in various articles. I felt at that time I should have come out of the closet about my dancing past as a Spanish heartthrob, hell, I taught Ricky Martin how shake his boooo-tay.  Please check the internet for proof of my Hispanic heritage, Between the years 1988-2011 I worked on several of the following albums with the boyz: Sons of Rock; Sombras Y Figura; Los Ultimos Heroes; Vote for me, I’m Spanish, Tiempo De Amar and Driving to Obama with Danny. Jim O'rourke has big Ones!!

On February 14, 2014 disgraced former State Legislator Jim O'Rourke, who, rumor has wants to run again for his former job,  posted the following on his Facebook account: 

The Insider has no issue with the fact that Mr. O'Rourke has the right to exorcise his first amendement rights, but Jimbo, um you are not an ordinary citizen remember?  You were involved in the death of a young woman that allegedly jumped into your car while you were at a Rock Hill bar.  The woman is dead and you are posting pictures of another so-called political troublemaker?  Remember the woman is dead and you did not do any jail time, while Rowland did time in jail for the hot tub violation.  Let's put things in perspective here people.  The Republican goes to jail for his violation of illegally steering a potential contract and getting certain contractors to install a hot tub under the radar, while Jim O'Rourke kicks a woman out of his car without shoes and a coat on a snowy night.  Mr. O'Rourke, I think you need to do all of us a favor and start posting confessions about what really happened that night. Your soul may depend on it one day.

Rumblings from Middletown

Rumbling, Rumors and other cool stuff you won’t find out… yet!

1)   GOP v GOP- Want to know the definition of bad? Want to know the definition of really bad?  Take a look at the facial expression of the male Common Council GOPers who constantly vote along with the Dems and against that of their female counterparts. Can't we all just get along folks?  Remember that amazing fight sequence in Lincoln between Sally Field and Daniel Day Lewis? It has nothing on the battle that is going on. Imagine spending the time to prep an alternate budget and then pull a Benedict Arnold once it’s time to vote on the Mayor’s budget. 

2)   New Show on NBC- Get your TIVOS and DVR ready, after a long hiatus, the new political feel good drama, Little Blue House on the Prairie will finally make it’s premiere on the peacock network next week.  The amazing premise follows a band of activists who secretly hoard money and build houses for the needy with the claim “we don’t make any money off this.”  Plots revolve around the family using federal money to start non-profit organizations and give themselves fat six-figure bonus and a Robert Ludow-esque episode where the gang tries taking down an evil developer, but refuses to disclose that they too have a financial interest in the neighborhood.

3)   BOE budget- Kudos to Teddy “Bear” Raczka and Ryan “No relation to JFK” Kennedy for voting NO for the budget increases that will add even higher taxes for citizens.   Transparency? As of yet we, the people have not seen a real itemized budget anywhere on the web or in print.  Perhaps the village district should take a bus up to the state capitol and march against the awful state statute 10-220, which allows superintendents the right to be less than transparent with a town’s money?  Speaking of the missing Million $$ Dollars, new Superintendent, Pat “The Price is Right” Charles, claimed recently that the figure of missing money is only $180,00 and not a cool million.  Get Blum/Shapiro on  the phone!

4)   Two buyers scared away from High Street:  Sources close to the City have revealed that two potential land developers pre-Bob Landino were quite interested in the Wesleyan property.  After doing some research and meeting with some prominent (village) people, they decided to pull out to avoid a hassle.

5)   Connect the Dots—Why did Blue House LLC really want to outbid The Connection on the so-called controversial purchase? Was it to keep certain folks out of the neighborhood? Folks that say would occupy the property as a half way or group home? NIMBY, my rear end. How about, WAABOH or we are a bunch of hypocrites?

6)   Medal- Lee Osborne should be given a medal for telling the truth about everything he wants and standing up for his rights. 

7)   Earl Roberts for the town’s Executive Chair? -  According to sources, (the A.M. staff at Dunkin Donuts and the Beller Boys), Roberts a former GOP councilman has expressed interested in running for the city’s top position.  When told he would have to spend some of his ‘own’ money, EVR jr, just brought up bees and stared into space. 

8)   New Evil Dead Film- According to horror director, Sam Raimi in a recent TMZ interview: “I have always wanted to write a horror/zombie film about the people in Middletown’s village area.  It was quite easy to film, they are predictable and say one thing, but mean another especially when it’s to pad their pockets with the benjamins.”
9) Middletown High Blue Prints Student Newspaper wins awards. Yet, taxpayers still pay a former teacher to write press releases and feel-good articles for local news media.
10)   Irony- despite what The Press said, the Insider was never pro-Landino and Mx Zone change. We never actually took a stance either way.  We just asked a few questions about Blue House LLC and why certain people didn't show at the meeting. Mayor Drew for starters after Ed McKeon's article in which he provided photos of everyone opposing his views.  Spin it Middletown Mess!

11)                  IP Address Trace- Did Ed McKeon really trace the IP address to Salafia's house or was he attempting to scare her?  He told The Middletown Press he traced it, so wouldn’t that be a crime ?  Is he tracing every comment on the Eye? Creepy.

Mayor Drew Thinks Bookstore is a Good Idea

"Despite all the brouhaha over the potential Wesleyan bookstore relocation—including dissenting voices from Middletown resident Jen Alexander ’88 and Red & Black owner Ed Thorndike ’89—Mayor Dan Drew remains committed to supporting the development on economic grounds. In a press conference on Wednesday, Drew praised developer Bob Landino’s proposal as a potential job-creator in Middletown. As Middletown Patch reports:

“This will bring a $6 million influx of funds into the Middletown economy,” said Mayor Dan Drew. “It will create 30 full-time jobs in the development complex.”
Joining Drew at a press conference in council chamber of city hall were Robert A. Landino, president and CEO of Centerplan Construction; Gerry Daley, longtime chair of the Economic Development Commission; and Larry McHugh, president of the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce.

Drew also compared the model to William and Mary College (though this slab of Washington Street is at least a few blocks from Middletown’s “historic downtown”) and praised Landino’s connections to the Middletown community (read: he’s not from “New York or Boston or Chicago”):

“It’s a model extremely similar to what’s been done at William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va.,” Drew said — a university bookstore in the heart of an historic downtown. [ . . . ]
“If this were a developer swooping in from New York or Boston or Chicago that we didn’t know, it would create a tremendous amount of concern,” but, Drew said, Landino is a “known quantity” working with local Realtors, local architects and engineering firms.

Many of the reader comments, interestingly, are in favor of the move—and less in favor of Wesleyan’s involvement with it. As one “Jane” voices:

cant say I trust Wesleyan much with it’s promises to our town- those jobs will probably go to their students not what they call “townies”- people have a short term memory with promises to open the athletic center to our community- its not as accessible as they had us believe-"

John Ratzenberger's Meriden Trip in Pictures

Meriden-   On September 29, 2012 acclaimed film and television actor, John Razenberger, known to most folks at the know-it-all postman on NBC’s long running hit program Cheers, appeared at a rally at Meriden’s Four Points Hotel in order to support State Senator Len Suzio who is running for his second term in the General Assembly.  Ratzenberger, a Bridgeport native, is a huge supporter of keeping manufacturers in America and currently hosts a program on the Travel Channel entitled John Ratzenberger’s Made in America, a show that features segments on businesses such as Zippo, Jack Daniels, Louisville Slugger, Gatorade and others notable companies that maintain factories and employees in America.   During his brief speech in front of nearly 200 fans, Ratzenberger stressed the importance of keeping business in “America and for Americans.”  He also praised Suzio’s efforts in his attempts to keep a cap on Connecticut’s gas tax as well as his work with regard to repealing Governor Dannel P. Malloy’s Early Release for Violent Offenders Law suspended.

Every two years in early-mid January of even-numbered years (which means our next opportunity will be in 2014), a caucus is held to elect the membership of every Town Committee in the state of CT (both Republican AND Democrat BTW). A few towns actually require you to obtain signatures to be on the ballot but in almost every case all you need to do is show up on caucus night as a registered Republican and say you want to be on the ballot. Check with your local registrar or town clerk to find out what the local rules are as well as the maximum number of members your local RTC can have.
That figure is important to know because if there are more people at the caucus asking to be members than there are positions to be filled (for example, only 36 can be members but 48 show up), an election is held AT THE CAUCUS by the registered Republicans IN ATTENDANCE. In order to guarantee yourself a membership slot on the RTC, you will need to have at least enough votes in the room to overcome the possible objection of the incumbent members of your RTC. But if you can actually get enough like-minded Republican conservatives in your town to show up at the caucus and agree to be members by nominating each other, you can literally “throw ALL the bums out” so to speak!
