About Yesterday’s (Non)Decision by the Supreme Court

While yesterday’s decision to deny cert in Friedman v Highland Park was disappointing, we knew that this would be likely. The fact remains that SCOTUS repeatedly kept conferencing the petition. This underscores that the matter is significantly important, but it was not the right time yet to hear a petition of this sort.

The Connecticut Citizens Defense League (The state’s largest grass-roots gun rights group) is speaking out against calls for more gun control made by elected officials from Connecticut.

Comment from CCDL President Scott Wilson:

 “Once again we have Governor Malloy spouting off for more gun control before any facts are out about who may have committed the atrocity in San Bernardino and why they committed it. Once again we also have Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty, Senator Chris Murphy and Senator Richard Blumenthal parroting calls for more gun control out of their playbook. It is obvious that in their minds, law-abiding citizens of the United States would be better off walking around completely defenseless with no means to protect themselves”.

SEPTEMBER 19th! RESERVE THE DATE!

On Saturday September 19th, beginning at 11:00 AM, the Connecticut Citizens Defense League will host our 7th annual family picnic.

The event will take place at the Boothe Memorial Park – 5800 Main Street on Putney, Stratford, CT.

This event is open to all CCDL members and to the public free of charge. Everyone is encouraged to attend this event to celebrate our right to keep and bear arms. Come and get to know us, and learn more about what CCDL does to protect your rights as a gun owner in the state of Connecticut.

Come and enjoy typical picnic fare – burgers, hotdogs, salads, desserts, soft beverages, and more. This will be an alcohol free gathering.

Bring your kids! Bring your dogs!

Any lawful form of firearm carry is allowed and encouraged! If you will be carrying a firearm, please exercise safety and caution as we will be in the eyes of the public. Firearms must remain holstered for the duration of the event to ensure safety.

CCDL merchandise and membership sign-up will be available onsite. There will be games and prizes for all to participate in and enjoy.

Please let us know via email if you plan to contribute a food item. Salads, desserts, and snack items are suggested.

CT Gun Control Sent Judy Aron Packing

Excerpts from Judy Aron's Commentary From Hartford Courant; Feb 14, 2014

"What's your line in the sand?
When do you finally say, "Enough," decide to sell your house, pack up your things and move your life to another state that offers more freedom and liberty?
For me and my family, the straw that broke the camel's back was the ludicrous and oppressive gun legislation enacted last year in Connecticut by progressive Democrats and weak-kneed, unprincipled Republicans.

We are not alone in our decision to leave Connecticut. The exodus has begun in earnest as people clamor to move anywhere where there is more economic opportunity, smaller government, less crime and more freedom. Their children have already left the state because there are no real career jobs to be had. Texas, Montana, Wyoming, Tennessee, North Carolina are some choices for people who are leaving, but we decided on New Hampshire.

The motto "Live Free or Die" is not taken lightly (in New Hampshire). There's no state income tax and no sales tax, and gun rights are still intact. All it took was $10 and a short form to get our concealed carry permits. We can walk around all day with holstered guns and no police will bother us and the citizens don't freak out either. It's one of the safest states in the country, too."

This patriot and her family will be missed, but one cannot fault her decision.

Note: Judy Aron is a long time Homeschooling Activist. She has been heavily involved in protecting the rights of parents: particularly homeschoolers. She graduated from Rondout Valley High School and went on to attend SUNY New Paltz, where she earned a BA in Economics in 1978 graduating magna cum laude with a dual minor in Business Administration and Computer Science.

The attacks against us are merciless and nonstop because the Progressive Left is terrified of increased competition for the minds and souls of Americans. Chris Murphy and Richard Blumenthal, Connecticut's own US Senators, dispel the influence of the Tea Party going forward. They say it peaked in 2010. They blame it for their troubles.

We're asking you to prove them wrong. Have you ever seen the classic movie, SPARTACUS, starring Kirk Douglas, Tony Curtis and Lawrence Olivier? Near the conclusion, the defeated fighters from the slave army are offered life if they turn over Spartacus to the Roman general. They stand in solidarity dooming themselves to crucifixion rather than revealing their leader.

The Tea Party conservative movement stands between Socialism and Freedom in America. We will try to achieve the emotional moment to further solidify our members at a future Congressman's public forum or town hall meeting. I envision myself or another standing to make a statement about how we are tired of being vilified for protecting the Constitution.

I will look around and ask if there are Tea Party people in the crowd. We stand up in twos and threes and announce, “I am Tea Party!” Video of that moment will be our gift to the Liberty movement. We hope it may act like a shot of adrenalin in Connecticut and America. We hope others will copy the plan, which I label THE SPARTACUS TACTIC.

For this to succeed we must be a huge group in the meeting, at least 30%. We don't know when the next opportunity will arise, but we're hoping for one on a weekend. Who among you will make the trip to be part of this plan? There may be only 24 to 48 hours notice. If we succeed there will be no question that the Tea Party is alive and strong in Connecticut. In any-sized town hall meeting 50-100 would be fantastic. Please respond and we will create a special list, just as we've done with our Twitter Team of 30. This is how we stick it to Murphy.
