Greater Middletown Military Museum Special Luncheon Oct. 22


The Greater Middletown Military Museum will be hosting a luncheon at the Elks on Maynard Street Oct. 22 at noon.
The guest speaker will be Bill Corvo, a Middletown native and local businessman who will talk about his father, Max Corvo, former chief of the Office of Strategic Services intelligence agency during World War II and was a key player in the liberation of Italy.
An update on the progress of the museum will be given. Tickets are $20 each and a limited number will be sold.Tickets sold after Oct. 14 and at the door will be $25 with eight people maximum to a table. All profit from the event stays with the museum.
The menu is tossed garden salad with dressing, fresh-cut fruit bowl, stuffed breast of chicken, fresh mashed potatoes, penne pasta with sauce, steamed vegetable, rolls, baked cookies and coffee.

Veterans of the Vietnam War of Middletown meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 58 Bernie O’Rourke Drive.
VFW Post 583 meets first Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Legion.
American Legion Post 75 meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Legion.
VFW Post 1840 meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at at the Legion.
Daughters of American Veterans Chapter 7 meets on the third Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Legion. All veterans are welcome.
Members of the Greater Middletown Military Museum meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Legion.
Catholic War Veterans Post 1166 meets on the third Wednesday of the month, at 7 p.m. at the Legion. Note the change in meeting place.
American Legion Post 206 meets the third Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at Page Hall of Connecticut Valley Hospital.
Middletown Council of Veterans meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Legion.

Independence Day Norm Way Memorial Baseball Game draws a crowd

The Greater Middletown Military Museum held its 6th  annual Norm Way Memorial Baseball Game  on the Fourth of July at Palmer Field.
 Norm Way was a member American Legion Post 75 an supporter of Legion baseball a World War II veteran who landed in Normand on D-Day plus 1, a charter member of the Greater Middletown Military Museum and on the Museums Board of Directors.. This year was a double header. First game between Middletown American Post 75 and Berlin American Legion starts at 10:00am. Second game was between American Legion RCP and Middletown. The game was announced by local legend Jim Bransfield. Tim D'Aquila coached Middletown's team.


Berlin American Legion beat Middletown 5-2. Middletown won 3-2 against Legion RCP. Middletown will play Meriden this Saturday at  4pm in a home game.

July 4th: Norm Way Memorial Baseball Game.

July 4th: Norm Way Memorial Baseball Game. The Greater Middletown Military Museum will hold its annual Norm Way Memorial Baseball Game at 58 Bernie O’Rourke Drive in Middletown. All are welcome.
The Norm Way Memorial Baseball game will be held again this year. Norm Way was a member American Legion Post 75 an supporter of Legion baseball a World War II veteran who landed in Normand on D-Day plus 1, a charter member of the Greater Middletown Military Museum and on the Museums Board of Directors. The game will be on the 4th of July Pre-game ceremonies start at 10:45am. This year it will be double header. First game between Middletown American Post 75 and Berlin American Legion starts at 10:00am. Second game between American Legion RCP and Middletown starts at 2:00pm.
