The Shakespeare Slam is a unique performance/party in which performers raise money by recruiting patrons to support their performance by donating to ARTFARM. The performers who raise the most money are awarded prizes, and prizes are also given out for creativity, absurdity, inspiration and power. The theme of this year’s Slam is “Speak Truth to Power” – performers can present any piece (original, classical, modern – not just Shakespeare), up to two minutes long, which addresses this theme. Creative and anachronistic presentations are encouraged. Two minutes of any rant, poetry, music, madness, dogma, manifesto or revolution that you care to bring to the stage.

The Shakespeare Slam features plenty of great food, wine, beer, live music, Elizabethan and post-Elizabethan Shenanigans, and the Slam performances. Professionals, amateurs, and young people are all encouraged to perform. Performers must have a minimum of $50 in sponsorships to take the stage. This year’s Celebrity Host is State Rep. Matt Lesser.

Tickets to the Slam are $25, though performers attend for free. The event will take place at the Community Health Center, 675 Main Street, Middletown.
