The Gettysburg
Address
Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address is a literary pièce de résistance. This brief
two-minute speech has captivated historians and all lovers of America for the past
150-plus years.
It has been erroneously reported that President
Lincoln wrote this speech while riding the train from Washington, DC to
Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. In fact, he began writing the speech in the White
House using White House letterhead stationary. His normal approach in crafting
a speech was to work on it well in advance of the event. It is surmised by
historians in this case that the Address had not been completed until after
arriving at Gettysburg. The reason given that debunks his having written the
Address on the train points out that his handwriting was the same as all other
documents he had written – a challenging feat on a rocking and rolling train in
1863!
Communist Party Revolution - Coming to a City Near You?
I'm not sure what city this "protest" took place in, but you can see that the signs are not hand made, but professionally produced. Note the "revcom.us" at the bottom of them. (Photo didn't copy)
What is "revcom"? It is the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA. Remember Rosa DeLaura's support for the new roof on the building that houses the CT Communist Party in New Haven?

Corey Calls on Candidates to Stop Using Tragedies to Raise Money
Stop Using Tragedies to Raise Campaign Funds
HARTFORD, CT - Following the recent Congressional sit-in, Matthew Corey, candidate for U.S. Congress (Connecticut - District 1), made the following statement:
"John Larson and the entire Connecticut delegation want to make this election about a single issue - Gun violence. John Larson's lack of leadership and poor communication skills recently led to a 60’s style sit-in on the House floor - which must have brought back fond memories for a man who was fortunate enough not to have served in Vietnam, but let down those who served in his place by voting against the Veterans Accountability Act. Let’s see how much of the funds his party raised with this publicity stunt will be donated to the victims of the Orlando tragedy.
John Larson said people were sharing stories about gun violence in their districts. I wonder if he shared all the stories of Hartford, which had the highest murder rate in New England in 2015? I am also curious about whether our representative from New Haven shared her stories on how violent New Haven has become.

Lessons from
Lincoln
I find great comfort and strength from reading
the writings of our nation’s more noble characters, not the least of which is
Abraham Lincoln. Often maligned today by revisionist historians who have no
appreciation nor understanding of the times within which our predecessors
lived, President Abe Lincoln was as plain and ordinary as a fence post.
But, oh! the depth of this man! Here was a
thinking man, a man who wrestled with the hard issues of life long before the
mantle of President of the United States was placed upon his shoulders.
Born in 1809, Lincoln grew up in a log cabin,
working the land by the sweat of his brow. He also had an unquenchable thirst
for knowledge, reading at night by the glow of the coals in the fireplace. He
would walk miles to borrow a book to read, and then return it again. He was a
great listener, taking the time to hear people recount their troubles and woes,
a practice he continued even during his time in the White House.

John Pistone on Second Amendment Rights
John Pistone, independent 5th district | candidate for Congress |
The reality is gun control laws will never prevent or reduce mass shooting,or deter terrorist. Criminals or terrorist don't obey laws, period. A disturbed individual with a deranged mind who decides to kill or inflict harm will always find a way to get a weapon to carry out their warped agenda.
We need to adequately enforce our laws and hold people accountable for their actions. Instead of blaming the weapon we need to blame the person who is pulling the trigger. If elected, I plan on working with the NRA, the gun rights of America and other organizations that stand up for our Second Amendment rights. I believe by working together we can accomplish a plan that moves in the direction of progress instead of politics. www.pistoneforcongress.net www.pistoneforcongress.org
