NEWS  LEGAL & LEGISLATION  Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals Ignores Heller: No Protection for Guns It Deems “Dangerous”
Ever since the U.S. Supreme Court’s opinions in Heller and McDonald, many of the lower U.S. courts have been making up their own rules when it comes to the Second Amendment. Tuesday’s outrageous opinion by the full U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Kolbe v. Hogan is yet another example of this. In that case, nine of out fourteen judges ruled that America’s most popular types of rifles, banned in the state of Maryland, have no Second Amendment protection.

DNC Chair Frontrunner Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) Hides from his Radical Anti-gun Record
With the Democratic National Committee’s officers election set for Saturday, earlier this week CNN hosted a debate featuring the candidates vying to be the next DNC chair. During the debate, CNN’s Dana Bash confronted Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) with the severe anti-gun comments the representative made during an appearance on the March 21, 2014 episode of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher. In responding to the question, Ellison attempted to deceive viewers by denying his earlier statements and obfuscating his record on gun rights.

A Fourth Circuit Trifecta: New Rulings Confirm Need for Judges who Respect Second Amendment
Anyone still unconvinced about the importance of the courts and the need for justices who support Second Amendment rights had plenty of food for thought this month, with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit issuing two anti-gun opinions in rapid succession. These follow a troubling decision in January, United States v. Robinson, addressed in a previous alert.

Wayne LaPierre: CPAC 2017
NRA Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Wayne LaPierre addressed the crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference in National Harbor, Maryland. "Have we ever seen such anger in this country," asked the NRA chief, referring to the enraged leftist movement. He said many of these people hate everything that America stands for and they're willing to engage in criminal violence to get what they want. These are dangerous times, warned LaPierre, who declared that we’re also under siege from the national media machine. Everything they do, he pointed out, is intended to purposely and maliciously destroy the Trump presidency. But when Americans voted last November, the NRA vowed to stand by Donald Trump's side and LaPierre promised that gun owners across the country will fight the violent left and will not be defeated. "Terror knows no more ferocious foe than freedom in the hands of 'We the people.'

Chris W. Cox: CPAC 2017
Chris W. Cox took the stage at the Conservative Political Action Conference in National Harbor, Maryland. Before introducing the vice president of the United States, NRA's chief lobbyist noted that it was just six days before CPAC a year ago that Justice Antonin Scalia passed away. That turned the 2016 presidential election into not just a fight for the next four years, but one for the next 40 years. That's why, said Cox, the NRA made the earliest endorsement they've ever made in standing with Donald Trump. Cox then went on to introduce Pence and he awarded him with the Charlton Heston Courage Under Fire Award.
