Sisk Street & Pleasantview Drive Repaving Allegedly Causes Property Damage.

Earlier in the month, Sisk Street and parts of Pleasantview Drive were repaved as part of a City Road Bond. The job had been awarded to Tilcon Paving Services. Generally, when roads are repaved each private driveway may get a new apron to smooth out the transition between the drive and  street.  We heard that various residents reported cracking to their driveways during the repaving that was more than the superficial cracking that typically occurs on the aprons. The party responsible for the cracking was responsible for fixing the damage to private properties. For any questions, concerns, or reports of damage please contact the Mayor's Office at (860) 638 4801.

  3. That's a lot of driveway to be considered just an apron. Who they fooling. They where taken care of. The are well off, but get off on getting free extras. They need to feed their egos constantly. Disgusting. That's close to 3-4k of paving if you had to pay for that type of work to be done privately.

  4. Where are the clerk of the works report and photos of the damage, or whoever is in charge of the job for the City? They should be on file as well as a report and photos by the City's insurance manager.
The City should just show the taxpayer everything to remove any doubt this was on the up and up.

  7. @Anon 1:38 pm no this doesn't happen all the time, but it could be the resident paid to have that part of the driveway paved.

  9. @ Anon 10pm,
If the Councilman did pay, he would have received a better price than having it done prior to or after the road job was being performed. The contractor had all their equipment on the site while doing a taxpayer bonded road job, and would have given a better price than hauling everything to do one house. I doubt he paid for it out of pocket.
As the Councilman always says, he wants government to be transparent. Maybe if a reporter contacted him, he would be gracious enough to grant them an interview on the subject.

  10. Wait. If this is a political figures home and they didn't pay for the "perk" isn't it the same fraud that Rowland, Ganim and Perez went to jail for???? I for one would like to see the proof of payment! That would clarify the issue.

  12. I think a special prosecutor should look into this 'perk'. Maybe followed by a grand jury investigation. Who knows...this could make it all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. Serragate!

  13. This is the second re-paving in 20 years for Sisk Street. I do commend Tilcom for the excellent job they did on the surface. It's smooth, level and joins the curbing on both sides. I also note that new concrete curbs were installed.
A question for the general audience: When was that last time your street was repaved? Tavern Circle has not been repaved or repaired since it was installed in 1984.

  14. Come on how can we expect a senior living on a meager 164K state pension with a 3 percent COLA to pay for his own driveway? Have you seen the prices in S&S recently. Do you know what Just For Men costs?

  15. If this is an elected official they should just produce receipts. Easy enough to fake right?

Ditto Ken. My street is like a wash board! Funny how certain streets get done over and over and some not at all!

  16. I heard a rumor the Board of Ed is going to make sure his family member becomes the next athletic director at MHS. The current one retired, but still comes to work part time. In between, his son is getting experience filling in, to justify he will be qualified when they post the vacancy.
The same people always get taken care of in this town.
