Candidates Face Off in Westfield October 22

The Westfield Residents Association is holding a forum at 6 pm on  Monday October 22.at 3rd Congregational Church at 94 Miner St. The public is encouraged to attend.

Scheduled to attend:

10+ years Incumbent 3rd Congressional District U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, a Democrat vs.Republican Wayne Winsley

Incumbent 9th District  Democrat State Sen. Paul Doyle, a Democrat vs.  Republican Joseph Dinunzio

Incumbent 13th District  Republican State Sen. Len Suzio, a Republican vs. Democrat Dante Bartolomeo.

Incumbent 100th House District State Rep. Matt Lesser vs. Republican Deborah Kleckowski,

20+ years Incumbent  33rd District Democrat Rep. Joe Serra vs. Republican Callie Grippo.

The forum format will devote 15 minutes to each race of which candidates will have 3 minutes each to speak; the remaining time will be for audience Q & A. No word on moderator.* Continued:



Mayor  Drew will address questions regarding the $37 million referendum question on the ballot that would provide funding to dismantle the city's sewer plant  to join the regional Mattabassett District.

Nov. 6th's  ballot will also have a second referendum question seeking voter approval to spend up to $4.82 million to renovate Eckersley Hall to become Middletown Senior Center. Grants are available for $1.3 million for this project.

* In the past candidate forums & debates have been moderated by the late Arlene Rich, past President of Westfield Resident Association, and Stephen H. Devoto. We have not confirmed the name of the moderator at the time of this posting.

    Get real INISIDER, it will most likely be Stpehen H. Devoto. How come you don't publish that?

  2. We have no problem publishing if the moderator is Stephen H. Devoto, however this has not been confirmed by us so we have not included in the article at this time. The Courant has not confirmed the moderator either at the time of the publishing of that notice. Hopes for a spirited debate and best of luck to whom ever is moderator.
