CONNECTICUT RESPONDS: CCDL AWB CASE UPDATE

William,

We hope this message finds you well. Yesterday, Attorney General William Tong filed a brief in opposition to our petition for a writ of certiorari, asking the Supreme Court to hear our case challenging the CT assault weapons ban. Four out of the nine justices need to agree in order to hear our case. The Connecticut Office of the Attorney General does not want the Supreme court to hear this case, and they are doing everything in their power to try to make sure that does not happen. Today, we are asking for your help to join us as we prepare for the Supreme Court's decision.

The state's brief makes a mockery of the text, history, and tradition test established in NYSRPA v. Bruen. It calls bans such as Connecticut's part of a "longstanding tradition" (39) that was part of a "'regular course of practice of regulating such weapons throughout our history"". (39). This could not be further from the truth. Read their full response brief here.

Whether the Supreme Court grants us cert or not, we have a long road ahead of us. In order to get our rights back, we need your support.

How You Can Help:

  1. Donate: Every contribution, whether a one-time gift of $50 or a recurring monthly donation, fuels our mission. Your generosity directly supports our legal battle to protect Second Amendment rights. Visit https://www.ccdl.us/donate or mail your gift to CCDL, Inc., PO Box 120, Southbury, CT 06488.

  2. Spread the Word: Amplify our cause by sharing this campaign with friends, family, colleagues, and fellow Second Amendment advocates. Challenge your gun club or range buddies to join the effort and help us build momentum.

  3. Volunteer: Contribute your time and talents by organizing a fundraising event to benefit CCDL’s litigation fund. Whether it’s a pasta dinner, wine tasting, or a shooting event at your local club or range, your initiative can make a significant impact. CCDL Board and Committee members are ready to support and attend any event you organize.

Your generosity is and has been essential to the future of the Second Amendment. The antis know they are in a losing battle, they want to ban America's most popular rifle. The state is happy to point out this ban carves out "exceptions for... law enforcement personnel" (14), but not you. They want to prevent you from having the tools you need to protect you and your family.

Thank you for your support in this fight.

With gratitude,
The Connecticut Citizens Defense League (CCDL)
