John F. Barrett, 84, of Middletown, CT, loving husband of 56 years to Mary Lou (Bennett) Barrett, peacefully passed Dec. 8, 2017 surrounded by his family after a brief illness. John was born on January 2, 1933 in Sayville, NY, son of Joseph and Grace Barrett. He attended All Hallows High School and CCNY in New York. He was predeceased by his brother William. He is survived by his four children and spouses: John and Monica of Glastonbury, Mark and Christine of New Orleans, Christopher of Denver, and Sharon of S. Windsor, two grandchildren, Allison and Adam and numerous nieces and nephews. He was active as a Little League Coach and Boy Scout leader, enjoyed a long career in advertising and print sales, actively enjoyed playing pool at Glastonbury Senior Center, and wintering in Panama City Beach, Florida. Calling hours are Wednesday, December 13 from 4-7 PM at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury, CT. Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 14 at 10 AM at St. Paul’s Church, Main Street, Glastonbury. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
