Glastonbury, CT (July 24, 2017) — Prasad Srinivasan, declared candidate for Governor in 2018, announced that he has received nearly $225,000 in qualifying contributions, and is nearly ninety percent of the way to the State’s Citizen Election Program (CEP) threshold.

“In the third quarter, we picked up right where we left off in the second,” Dr. Srinivasan said. “After the first few weeks of July, we are ever closer to our goal of reaching the CEP limit this summer.”

At the close of the second quarter, Dr. Srinivasan reported having received $205,103 in qualifying contributions, a sum that led all announced gubernatorial candidates, both Republicans and Democrats. Through the first three weeks of July, Dr. Srinivasan has raised $19,713, totaling at $224,816, or 89.9% of the sum that is needed required to qualify under the State’s CEP program.

“The finish line is in sight,” Dr. Srinivasan said. “We want to be the first to reach it.”

Impressively, Dr. Srinivasan has raised this sum conservatively, and without spending much money on his own. At the close of the second quarter, Dr. Srinivasan also reported having $178,854 in cash on hand, as his campaign has spent less than one of every eight dollars that it has received. Dr. Srinivasan’s cash-on-hand is nearly equal to the combined cash-on-hand of the three leading Democratic hopefuls, Comptroller Kevin Lembo ($78,583), former Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Mattei ($54,037) and former State Commissioner of Consumer Protection Jonathan Harris ($46,925).

“We are leading the race through fiscal responsibility and sweat equity,” Dr. Srinivasan said. “I will bring the same level of energy, enthusiasm, efficiency and to the campaign trail in 2018, and to the Governor’s mansion in 2019.”

Dr. Srinivasan is a four-time State Representative from Glastonbury. A practicing physician in Greater Hartford, Dr. Srinivasan has been elected to office by overwhelming margins ranging from twelve to thirty-five points. Dr. Srinivasan currently serves as a member of the legislature’s Public Health, Judiciary, and Environmental Committees.
