As lawmakers work to tackle the state budget, legislative Democrats are again looking towards new taxes and tolls.
Democrats eyeing sales tax hike to plug holes in next CT budget 
CT Democrat Lawmaker: “…this budget needs to have new revenue sources.” 
CT House Speaker: Tolls ‘Inevitable’ “Tolls are coming. They're not going to be border tolls. They will be all over the place.” Instead of balancing the state budget with tolls and new taxes, I believe lawmakers should be making changes to the structure of CT government to rein in costs and create an environment where jobs can grow and our economy can flourish. A healthy economy – not new taxes – is key to protecting core social services and making our state an even better place to live, work and raise a family.
