history.
Miner is
not running for re-election to the Connecticut
House of Representatives in 2016.
Instead, Miner is a
2016
Republican
candidate for District
30 of the Connecticut
State Senate which
includes New Milford, Brookfield, Kent, Canaan, Cornwall, Goshen,
Litchfield, Morris, North Canaan, Salisbury, Sharon, Torrington,
Warren and Winchester. SEE Voters
in 30th choose between two experienced politicians.
Minor's opponent is Democrat David Lawson, of New Milford, has served on the town’s Board of Education since 2003. Both are vying for the open Senate seat after Clark Chapin decided not to seek a third term. Miner has served at the state level for 16 years and as Litchfield’s first selectman before that. Clearly legislative experience in both State & Local positions are in Minor's favor.
State Representative Craig A. Miner was re-elected to his eighth term serving the people of the 66th District currently a Republican member of the Connecticut House of Representatives representing District 66. -- Bethlehem, Litchfield, Morris, Warren and Woodbury -- In November 2014, he was named Deputy Republican Leader. Rep. Miner serves on the Appropriations, Environment, Labor & Public Employees and Public Safety committees- all important to Sportsmen. He was first elected to the legislature in 2000. In addition, Rep. Miner serves as a member of the House Republican Screening Committee. The committee meets prior to each legislative session day to conduct a comprehensive review of legislation that will be brought before the full House of Representatives. Committee members review each bill and amendment for potential flaws, hidden clauses, unintended consequences and improvements that can be made either through revised language or the amendment process. He is a highly motivated Sportsman as evidenced by his position as co-chairman of the Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus and as a member of the CT 3 member representatives to the Atlantic States Marine fisheries Commission. Among his many awards is the CCS "Patriot Award" for his outstanding service.
Craig A. Miner has impeccable integrity, is an avid researcher on all issues, exhibits a rational debate technique, and, most important, exercises common–sense. During his tenure he has always been a stalwart supporter of Sportsmen’s positions. Based upon these standards, the Coalition of Connecticut Sportsmen considers him an exemplary legislator, clearly worthy of election to the Senate, and a positive benefit to the State.
