Chairman Gregory Shook of the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce
announced that UConn Head Men’s Basketball Coach Kevin Ollie will serve
as guest speaker at the chamber’s October Member Breakfast Meeting on
Friday, October 7, 2016.
The
Member Breakfast Meeting will be held at the Radisson Hotel Cromwell,
100 Berlin Road, Cromwell, with networking beginning at 7:00 a.m.,
breakfast buffet opens at 7:30 a.m., and the Meeting Program, 8:00 to
9:00 a.m. The event is sponsored by ConnectiCare, Inc. The breakfast
cost is $22 for Chamber Members and $32 for non-members.
“We
look forward to welcoming Coach Ollie to our Chamber’s Member’s
Breakfast. His talk to our members is always one of our most exciting
events of the year with a preview of his team’s outlook in the new
season. We are expecting a sold out crowd,” said Larry McHugh, President
of the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce.
In
four seasons as UConn’s head coach, following two years as an assistant
under Hall of Fame Coach Jim Calhoun, Ollie has already experienced a
long career’s worth of ups and downs including the ultimate high of the
college basketball coaching profession, the 2014 NCAA National
Championship. His teams have never won less than 20 games, while posting
three perfect APR scores of 1000. His career record of 97-44 (.688)
already has him fifth on UConn’s all-time coaching wins list.
Workshop Following Breakfast: "Painkillers & Opioids in the Workplace,"
Middlesex
County Substance Abuse Action Council’s "Painkillers & Opioids in
the Workplace,"
Workshop will take place immediately following the
Member Breakfast Meeting with Coach Ollie. The workshop beginning at
9:15 a.m., focuses on circumstances when an employee experiences pain
whether it’s due to injury, illness, or even the maladies of aging, work
can suffer. This workshop will help your employees become more
knowledgeable about managing pain. This seminar looks at the healthy use
of opiates, over-the-counter medications, and alternative therapies.
The presentation includes a 20-minute PowerPoint program that MCSAAC can
offer to employees as a free “lunch & learn” event. Workshop
speakers include: Dr. Matthew Lundquist, MD, who specializes in
Occupational Medicine and is board certified in Internal Medicine and
Prevention/Occupational Medicine. He has a special interest in public
and employee health. Betsey Chadwick, MA, is the Director of the
Middlesex County Substance Abuse Action Council (MCSAAC). Kelly Huffman,
MS, LPC, CEAP is a licensed professional counselor with the Middlesex
Hospital Employee Assistance Program and Solutions EAP.
