Charlie Daniels to Receive William F. Buckley Award

Charlie DanielsDear Friends,

One of the highlights of the Media Research Center’s Annual Gala is the presentation of the William F. Buckley, Jr. Award for Media Excellence.

It’s the one serious award handed out during an evening full of recognizing the most obnoxious members of the liberal media for their blatant and unprofessional behavior pretending to be unbiased journalists.

The winner of the Buckley Award is selected by MRC’s Board of Trustees each year. Past recipients include Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Cal Thomas, and the late Andrew Breitbart. The 2015 winner was Phyllis Schlafly.

This year’s honoree may come as a surprise to some of you. Charlie Daniels is a legend in the music world, having earned numerous awards throughout his long career. He was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2008, and earlier this year, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

But Charlie Daniels is also an avid writer, committed to conservative principles and telling the truth. He has been penning columns for the MRC’s CNSNews.com website once or twice a week for several years now, and the response from our readers has been overwhelming. Last year, he recorded a reading of “My America,” which we posted to our Facebook page, generating millions of views.

His columns for CNSNews.com can be found here.
2016 Gala This is just one more reason why you won’t want to miss this year’s MRC Gala featuring the DisHonors Awards, which will be held on Thursday, September 22nd at the spectacular National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. This year, to make it even more fun, we’re transforming the museum into festive Italy, and we’ll celebrate Italian-style.

Among the many special guests joining us this year will be nationally-syndicated columnist Cal Thomas, Club for Growth president David McIntosh, Daily Wire editor-in-chief Ben Shapiro, retired U.S. Army Lt. General Jerry Boykin, Conservative Review’s chief political correspondent Deneen Borelli, and DC talk radio star Chris Plante.

We’ve been holding this event for many years. Ask anyone who has ever attended an MRC Gala, and they’ll tell you it’s the most fun event in Washington all year. Mark Levin called it “the best party of the year, bar none.”

I hope you are able to join us on Thursday, September 22nd at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. Don’t forget to reserve your seat today. This event sells out every year, so get your tickets now!

Sincerely,

David Martin
Executive Vice President
Media Research Center

P.S. The MRC Gala is an event like no other. Reserve your seat for one of the most anticipated and entertaining dinners in Washington before tickets sell out!
