A Message From John Pistone, CT 5th District Independent Candidate

hsIn the winter of last year I declared my candidacy to run for congress in the 5th district of the state of Connecticut as a Conservative and a Republican. I based that decision on what I believed was a solid and “trusted” Republican platform as espoused by the leaders of the “Republican” party. Who have vowed to uphold and fight for the Republican party platform. That is clearly worded on the GOP website. Below are just a few of these values:

Preserving and Protecting Traditional Marriage.
The institution of marriage is the foundation of civil society. Its success as an institution will determine our success as a nation. It has been proven by both experience and endless social science studies that traditional marriage is best for children. Children raised in intact married families are more likely to attend college, are physically and emotionally healthier, are less likely to use drugs or alcohol, engage in crime, or get pregnant outside of marriage. The success of marriage directly impacts the economic well-being of individuals.

A Sacred Contract: Defense of Marriage.

That is why Congressional Republicans took the lead in enacting the Defense of Marriage Act, affirming the right of States and the federal government not to recognize same-sex relationships licensed in other jurisdictions... We reaffirm our support for a Constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

The First Amendment: The Foresight of Our Founders to Protect Religious Freedom.
The first provision of the First Amendment concerns freedom of religion... That assurance has never been more needed than it is today, as liberal elites try to drive religious beliefs – and religious believers – out of the public square...

The most offensive instance of this war on religion has been the current Administration’s attempt to compel faith-related institutions, as well as believing individuals, to contravene their deeply held religious, moral, or ethical beliefs regarding health services, traditional marriage, or abortion....We support the public display of the Ten Commandments ... and we affirm the right of students to engage in prayer at public school events in public schools and to have equal access to public schools and other public facilities to accommodate religious freedom in the public square....

We oppose government discrimination against businesses due to religious views. We support the First Amendment right of freedom of association of the Boy Scouts of America and other service organizations whose values are under assault and condemn the State blacklisting of religious groups which decline to arrange adoptions by same-sex couples...Beautiful, right? Values we hold dear, right? Values we believe should be upheld and fought for, right? Values that we believe will make America great again, right? Republican values... WRONG!

On Monday May 9th I attended the Republican Convention only to find out that the committee and delegates would nominate and support a candidate that goes against the Republican platform. The FIX was in!! “Business as usual” “Go along to get along” They wanted to elect their puppet. They went against the very same values they have vowed to the American people, and to the people of Connecticut, that they would uphold. Sadly, and in typical political fashion, They nominated, Clay Cope, an openly gay candidate to be our parties representative. I have no issues with Mr. Cope and as a citizen and fellow American I'm sure he is a great guy. Moreover, I wish Mr. Cope and his life partner well. However, I cannot do the politically correct thing and ignore the fact that Mr. Cope cannot and does not represent or fight for the values of the Republican Party. I do not blame Mr. Cope for his nomination, after all we know that politicians will do whatever it takes to get elected.

However, we should all be furious with the delegates and party leaders that have nominated him and or endorsed him to be the Republican candidate in the 5th Congreesional District. Clearly, there is an integrity issue here and more than likely some political back room bartering going on. How else can you explain nominating a candidate who is as far left on our values outlined above Clay Cope.Should not be a Republican nominee. Is it any wonder why the American people are fed up with the traditional party insiders and want non career politicians in their elected offices. The easy thing for me to do would be to stay quiet, drop out and do the politically correct thing and not draw attention to how Mr. Cope's life choices, which he is entitled to, contradict the values of the Republican party that he will be representing. However, my conscience and my love for our country, state and district will not permit me to do so. Therefore, I will continue my candidacy for the 5th congressional seat as the a independent conservative representative.

Who will fight for our traditional conservative values. To find out what other positions I hold on the important issues. Please visit my website www.pistoneforcongress.org  www.pistoneforcongress.net

I would appreciate your support and look forward to putting people over party politics. Remember, when you vote Pistone you are not alone!

  2. John Pistone represents the largest voting block in CT, the Unaffiliated, which comprises 42% of active voters. He will be on the ballot again this year. In 2014 he was UNETHICALLY excluded from any debates, thus disfranchising the largest plurality of CT's registered voters.

Help John get into any debates this year. He is the ONLY solidly pro-gun and ONLY Conservative candidate for 5th district Representative this year. Call John at 203-300-2275 to volunteer.
