While Homicides Committed by People with Firearms Continues to Decline . . .

The $4.1 trillion budget Barack Hussein submitted to congress at the beginning of the month includes a request for hundreds of millions in extra cash to beef up the left’s assault against the 2nd Amendment.

According to The Hill, “The ATF budget request is $1.3 billion, of which more than $35 million will be spent hiring 200 additional agents to reduce gun violence. The FBI is also requesting more money to hire an additional 230 employees to speed up the process to background checks on gun sales.”

And what is it that constitutes the so-called “epidemic of gun violence” that brought crocodile tears to the eyes of the most corrupt president the national media has ever shielded from justice? Mass killings and assorted firearm homicides.

What follows are statistics which the American public will never be provided by the White House.

Mass Killings

1) In the last decade of the 20th Century, 49 mass killings took place in the United States. (Murders of multiple victims by an armed assailant). In the first decade of the 21st Century, 26 mass killings took place.

2) “Although mass shootings have been covered extensively in the media, mass shootings account for a small fraction of gun-related deaths and the frequency of these events steadily declined between 1994 and 2007, rising between 2007 and 2013, before continuing a downward decline.”

3) “A common theme of mass shootings is that they occur in places where guns are banned and killers know everyone will be unarmed, such as shopping malls and schools.”

“The Aurora shooter, who killed twelve people [at a movie theater], had a choice of seven movie theaters that were showing the Batman movie he was obsessed with. All were within a 20-minute drive of his home. The Cinemark Theater the killer ultimately chose wasn’t the closest, but it was the only one that posted signs saying it banned concealed handguns carried by law-abiding individuals. All of the other theaters allowed the approximately 4 percent of Colorado adults who have a concealed-handgun permit to enter with their weapons.”

Countless articles and reports featured the Aurora murders. Stories about the killer led the news for weeks. Yet how often did we hear that this psychopath made a conscious choice to commit his crimes in a “gun free zone?”

4) “In the months after the mass shooting at the Newtown, Conn., elementary school in December [of 2012] the public [wa]s paying close attention to the topic of firearms; according to a recent Pew Research Center survey (Pew Research Center, April 2013) no story received more public attention from mid-March to early April [2013] than the debate over gun control. Reducing crime … moved up as a priority for the public in polling th[at] year.”

HOWEVER, “Despite national attention to the issue of firearm violence, most Americans are unaware that gun crime is lower today than it was two decades ago. According to a new Pew Research Center survey, today 56% of Americans believe gun crime is higher than 20 years ago and only 12% think it is lower.” In fact, “…the gun homicide rate is down 49% since its 1993 peak.”

What could possibly account for such ignorance on the part of the American people? Surely the media wouldn’t keep such good news from an interested public!

Firearm Homicides

Some 60% of firearm deaths each year are suicides. For example, in the year 2000, 16,586 people committed suicide with a firearm while about 13,000 killed themselves in some other way.

Here are the figures for firearm homicides, according to the FBI, from 2007 thru 2014:

2007-10,129; 2008-9,528; 2009-9,199; 2010-8,874; 2011-8,583; 2012-8,897; 2013-8,454; 2014-8,124   (As you can see, the numbers are declining, year after year.)  (added)

Of these homicides, a large number are attributed each year to drug violence and gang members killing (in large part) other gang members! These killings take place in large cities, often accounting for as much as 80% of yearly shooting deaths. “In New Orleans, between 35-55% of homicides are classified as gang-related. In Chicago, an estimated 80% of homicides are gang-related. And in Baltimore, the police commissioner states that 80% of homicides are drug-related.”

Although it is “…unclear what percentage of gun deaths are gang-related nationally,” it is a safe bet that taking guns from gang members and drug dealers would reduce Mr. Obama’s “epidemic of gun violence” far more effectively than continually aiming gun control legislation at the law abiding.

According to the FBI there were 8,124 firearm related murders in 2014. An extra $200 million in the Obama budget and 8000 murders this year would mean Barack could target each with an additional $25,000 over and above what his ATF and FBI spent in 2015!

Given the fact that passing legislation against the law abiding hasn’t stopped a whole lot of killings, maybe Barack will consider something new. How about PAYING each prospective killer $25,000 for NOT taking out an enemy gang member or drug dealing competitor? Americans could save a ton, just like they did with ObamaCare! Fewer police hired, fewer investigations and trips to the hospital, or the morgue, the state picking up the tab for fewer funerals; it can’t lose!

An end to the “epidemic of gun violence.”

Now, who’s going to convince Barack that killers are more dangerous than law-abiding gun owners?

    1. It is anything but good news; it is a total waste of money and an infringement on the civil rights of law abiding people, while making no impact on the already lawless.
