S.B. No. 20 AN ACT CONCERNING
CARRYING A FIREARM WHILE INTOXICATED OR UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL. SUPPORT. This bill standardizes the. eight-hundredths
of one per cent or more of alcohol found in most other statutes.
S.B. No. 234 (RAISED) AN ACT CONCERNING THE LOCATION OF A FIREARMS TRAINING FACILITY.
S.B. No. 235 (RAISED) AN ACT CONCERNING THE CONSTRUCTION OF A FIREARMS TRAINING FACILITY.
H.B. No. 5408 (RAISED) AN ACT CONCERNING THE PRESENTATION OF A CARRY PERMIT. OPPOSE. This bill would remove the requirement for a person to be under ‘suspicion of a crime’ and compel individuals produce a permit to carry firearms upon request. Currently, a sworn officer needs reasonable suspicion of a crime being committed in order to request a permit to be produced. This is similar to the need for reasonable suspicion to pull an automobile over.
H.B. No. 5409 (RAISED) SUPPORT. AN ACT CONCERNING APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR A TEMPORARY STATE PERMIT TO CARRY A PISTOL OR A REVOLVER. This is a bill CCS has proposed for over a decade. In Section (b) the elimination of additional forms was originated by CCS, the proof of eligibility was originated by the Board of Firearms Permit Examiners.
In general, here is some information for submitting testimony in person. To submit written testimony only there is a way to do so on each committee’s webpage (Public Safety Committee’s webpage). For the Committee click on “public hearing testimony” and it will bring up an email address. You should include your email address and contact information including physical address, in case anyone from the Committee wants to get back to you. For the Public Safety Committee the email address is: http://pstestimony@cga.ct.gov. This address makes testimony available for all Committee members.
Finally, it is a good idea to submit written testimony online even if you submit testimony in person.
