  2. Dan, how many children will you take? And your bff Dannel turned these humans away, what say you then? Dan your criticism is insulting to all immigrants who study and go thru the process to become legal.

  3. Dan, they are illegals because they are coming here illegally, sneaking through the back door, not coming legally through the front and that's the difference between your ancestors, my ancestors and most other people's ancestors. If you're hung up on labels, lets call them fuzzy unicorns. Its a much nicer sounding name but they are still here illegally.

  4. Be that your words sound so humane, you neglect to address the fiscal restraints the American people are already facing. Furthermore, I'm tired of liberals justifying a word for a vote. My people came to this country and didn't depend on the government programs. They helped each other. They were called "WOPS, guineas, etc" and the government didn't whine back then. They just let nature take it's course and let our people prove themselves. I mean no disrespect Mr. Drew, but is this the hill you want to be remembered for?

  5. Mr. Mayor,

How many people wait years to come to the US legally? How many new citizens came to Middletown on July 2nd to get sworn in as new citizens? They came here legally and worked for their citizenship. Yet you are diminishing all the work they did to become citizens, by your statement.

  6. I'm curious why people think these immigrants/illegals don't pay taxes and/or suck benefits out of the system they haven't earned. The facts actually speak otherwise. Because of their undocumented status they're for the most part paying more in taxes than getting back in benefits. The reasons here are simple. Most employers will deduct all appropriate taxes from what they pay for these peoples' services, but by and large these people can't apply for any benefits because they don't have the legal status to do so. Just some food for thought, I know it doesn't make their status any more legal or 'right' but if your only reason for not wanting them here is because you think you're subsidizing them, then think again, because they're actually the ones subsidizing you .

  7. Some valid points are made by the Mayor. Just a point of information for him - Ellis Island was not an illegal point of entry to this country. I think that is what most citizens are disturbed about. There is a legal way to enter the United States, crossing the borders at night are not one of them.
Sending young children alone to another country, and hoping someone else will take care of them is not what I would call good and loving parenting.

They are ILLEGALS. When you come across the border without authorization to do so you do it illegally. If it will make you any happier we can call them CRIMINALS because they did not come to the United States the way that our ancestors came in the 18th,19th, and 20th century. They came through LEGAL IMMIGRATION, or can't you grasp that concept?

  9. My father emigrated from Italy. He was 16. He had a health screening in Rome (at his own expense). He purchased (at his own expense) passage on a boat in steerage and shared a room with 3 other boys he did not know. He secured a relative who was an American citizen to sponsor him - meaning this person would take financial responsibility for him until he could get a job and find private lodging. By 1973 he was a vice president of a well known New Haven contractor. In 1981 he left to create his own business that is still in operation today. All done through the system, all above board. In that time, our company had 4 men of Guatemala get their citizenship and trade licenses with us. So don't tell me it can't be done, or it's too hard, or anything of the sort. You break the law, there are negative consequences. You come the right way, there are positive consequences. No judgement, just facts

  10. Do you feel the same way about other criminals that violate the law in Middletown? What do you want to call them?

  11. Mayor Drew,

Regardless of the good intention of most of the people flooding our borders, we simply cannot afford to allow every 3rd world person to come here and utilize our enormous network of social benefits at our expense.

Our ancestors came here legally, abiding by requirements which prohibited criminals, people with communicable diseases, and used a quota system to limit immigration levels to that which could be absorbed into American society. Once here, our ancestors assimilated and provided for themselves and their families, learned English, and followed the law to become proud Americans.

Today we have a massive welfare state, our government and citizens are facing a fiscal crisis at every level, and you are here to tell us to stop pointing out the fact that the illefal immigrants are breaking the law and taking advantage of our country. No.

Illegals technically are not supposed to receive welfare benefits but we all know they do - from EIC "credits" which Democrats refuse to allow a SS# to be asked for, to health clinics, hospitals, schools, college tuition now (legally thanks to Dannel Malloy and his band of pandering Democrats in Hartford), to police and fire services, etc. Who do you think pays for those things when largely uneducated people with no skills come here and work to make a minimum subsistence?

A study in California recently showed that illegald cost that state $25.3 billion a year, compared to $3.5 billion contributed in taxes. Will you raise our mill rate another 5 points to pay for this influx while the productive taxpayers increasingly flee this city and state for more affordable ground?

Folks, I am beyond tired of the ridiculous Democrat talking points. They want to import a new voter base to win more elections, while RINOs want to help so they can lower US wages for their Chamber of Commerce friends. Labor Unions are now behind it too with eyes on the dues of millions of more easily-manipulated members, at the expense of their current members and their families. You know the only people who don't benefit from open borders and illegal immigration? REGULAR AMERICAN CITIZENS!

  12. I got news for you Dan....They are illegals...aka...criminals. And just because you're offended by it doesn't make you right.
