Letter to the Insider Editor: Gender Discrimination in Jail Time Served

Dear Insider:
Gender Discrimination In Jail Time Served

A Connecticut male with a third DUI gets sentenced to three years' prison time. A female with her seventh DUI gets sentenced to Connecticut's only female prison in Niantic, which like all Connecticut prisons it is overcrowded, so the female is released after only 90 days.

This is discrimination. If male inmates have to sleep on a gym floor because of overcrowding, the overcrowded female prison in Niantic should make room on their prison floor for their female prisoners to serve out their sentences, a practice that does not exist at present. This is discrimination and needs to stop.
