Guestblog: Conservative Roundup by Palin Smith

Below is a roundup of Conservative events being held this week. Complied and submitted by Palin Smith. Opinions are that of Palin Smith and do not necessarily reflect that of Insider Staff.
GREETINGS PATRIOTS
WE URGE everyone to get involved in his or her local government. It’s from the Boards and Commissions that name recognition gets started. A person might be the best man for the job, but without name recognition, the voters will ignore individuals and vote party affiliation. We realize that apathy
is inimical to improving government, especially at the state and federal level.
We suggest that you attend your town’s Board of Education meetings to find out where your property tax goes, what deals are in the works and if those in charge of the purse strings even care about your money. The town council meetings are a must. Boards of Finance, Planning and Zoning and others are also recommended.
If you are Unaffiliated, attend at least one Democrat and Republican Town Committee meeting. If you don’t like either of them, be advised that there is a rising tide among third parties. The Libertarians are putting forth an optimistic slate of candidates in 2nd district towns. The Independent Party in Waterbury regularly wins seats on boards and commissions and occasionally on the Board of Aldermen. Although the Tea Party is not a registered political party its favorites in the US House of Representatives are keeping this nation from drowning.
So we're not telling you what to do, just to do something other than remain inert. Getting active in the local elections this year will provide you with the working knowledge to help make a solid impact in the 2014 state elections. We’re focused on ejecting 133 legislators - the ones who trampled on the Constitution and infringed on our rights to protect ourselves. They are both Democrats and Republicans.

On July 6 the CT Oath Keepers and CCDL marched in the Enfield Parade. Although it was sizzling on the pavement, all the marchers from dozens of groups made it through. Even some elected officials strutted their stuff.
Yes, that is Boomer Steed at his red Jeep. If you wish to join either group, follow the links in the description.

Armed Teachers in South Dakota proves that in at least one state citizens cherish the safety of their children. Connecticut lags far behind.

Labriola Calls Hewett to Resign

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FROM CTGOP
March 1, 2013

LABRIOLA CALLS ON HEWETT TO RESIGN

HARTFORD—Connecticut Republican Party Chairman Jerry Labriola, Jr. made the following statement today calling on State Representative Ernest Hewett to resign following an offensive comment made to a 17 year-old at the State Capitol.

“Representative Hewett’s offensive remark was a disgrace and an embarrassment. The fact that it was made to a 17 year-old intern visiting the State Capitol to attend a public hearing sends an absolutely atrocious message.

"In terms of the Speaker’s official action on this matter -- while Rep. Hewett may now be the only Democratic lawmaker at the Capitol without a leadership title, stripping him of that perk is less than a slap on the wrist.

"The legislature has at its disposal a number of ways to sanction Representative Hewett, ranging from an official censure to calling on him to resign. I urge Rep. Hewett to save the legislature some valuable time and make the decision to step down himself.

"This incident further damages the reputation and credibility of the Democratic legislative leadership -- not only the remark, but also the 'punishment.' The people of Connecticut are still angry about the Chris Donovan 'pay to play' corruption case and this latest disturbing incident only compounds the pattern of corruption and misconduct of the Democrats in Hartford.”
