Rt. 79 in Norwich - Lane Closures Beginning Oct. 3rd

I wanted to pass along the following information about a project the Department of Transportation is commencing in our district:
 
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 97 (Taftville Occum Rd.) in Norwich, beginning Monday, October 3, 2016
 
The project consists of milling and resurfacing a 1.89 mile segment of Route 97 (Taftville Occum Rd.) in Norwich.  The milling is scheduled to occur on Monday, October 3, 2016, to Wednesday, October 5, 2016.  The resurfacing segment of this project is anticipated to be performed on Thursday, October 6, 2016, to Friday, October 14, 2016.  No work will be performed on Monday, October 10, 2016, due to the Columbus Day holiday.
 
This project is included in the Department of Transportation’s 2016 Vendor Resurfacing Program.
 
LANE CLOSURE INFO
 
Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 97 (Taftville Occum Rd.) between the northerly drive to Ponemah Mill to the VIP match line on Route 97 (Taftville Occum Rd.) in Norwich.  Two (2) Norwich policemen, one (1) certified traffic controller, and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.  The regular work schedule for this project is 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Monday–Friday).
 
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
