Following the recent mass shooting in Orlando, Matthew Corey, candidate for U.S. Congress (Connecticut - District 1), made the following statement:
"My
thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of this tragic shooting and
their families. It’s heartwarming to see the outpouring of support from around the world. We
should be proud of the selflessness of the law enforcement personnel and
the patrons who put their lives in harm’s way to help fellow citizens.
We as a nation should condemn intolerance of American values and our way of life. We
need to address how Home Land Security shares information with state
and local law enforcement. We as citizens also need to report people who
seem radical or unstable like the co-workers of this Islamic radical
terrorist did. A fear of "racial profiling" should be secondary to the
safety of our nation.
As
we see time and time again, our CT Delegation does not let a tragedy go
to waste. They are already pushing their gun control agenda. There is
no reason to punish law abiding citizens by restricting their right to
protect themselves.
It is also unfortunate that with the recent budget cuts, our mental health programs have been decimated."
