Senator Markley's Capitol Update

Capitol UpdateIn this update, Sen. Markley discusses the close of session.

Among other things, he speaks about the fact that a budget was not passed, as is required.  No budget vote was taken and a special session is expected next week.  He also mentions the cuts to educational funding, which gives some towns more favorable treatment than others based on the influence of legislators, rather than subjective needs.  Hospital funding has also been cut, along with mental health and substance abuse programs, while the rights of gun owners to due process were stripped, endangering potential victims of domestic violence.   Also mentioned is the debate over the affirmative consent program for college students and why he voted against it.

State Senator Joe Markley represents the 16th Senatorial District,
which includes the towns of Cheshire, Prospect, Southington,
Wolcott and Waterbury.
