Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We at the Middletown Insider wish each of you a Happy St. Patrick's Day!  This is the one day a year when all Americans are honorary Irishmen!  In celebration, following are some Irish sayings, quotes  and toasts:

"May you be in Heaven a half hour before the devil knows you're dead."

"The Irish are the only people impervious to psychoanalysis" - Sigmund Freud

"Where there's a roof, there's a fire where there's a fire, there's heat where there's heat there's women , where there's women, there's gossip! "

“It's not that the Irish are cynical. It's rather that they have a wonderful lack of respect for everything and everybody.”  Brendan Behan

He who is not strong must needs be cunning.

A scholar's ink lasts longer than a martyr's blood.
If you are lucky enough to be Irish, then you are lucky enough.

May you both live as long as you want, and never want as long as you live.

“Ninety percent I'll spend on good times, women and Irish Whiskey. The other ten percent I'll probably waste.”  Tug McGraw

What's the use of being Irish if the world doesn't break your heart?

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

Bless your little Irish heart and every other Irish part.

A man is often a bad adviser to himself and a good adviser to another.

“The majority of the members of the Irish parliament are professional politicians, in the sense that otherwise they would not be given jobs minding mice at crossroads. “ Flann O'Brien

May the blessings of each day be the blessings you need most.

Beauty suffers no pain.

The Irish ignore anything they can't drink or punch.

“We have always found the Irish a bit odd. They refuse to be English.”  Winston Churchill

When anyone asks me about the Irish character, I say look at the trees. Maimed, stark and misshapen, but ferociously tenacious.

May those who love us love us.
And those that don't love us,
May God turn their hearts.
And if He doesn't turn their hearts,
May he turn their ankles,
So we'll know them by their limping.

The longest road out is the shortest road home.

Remember even if you loose all, keep your good name; for if you loose that you are worthless.

“Trash talk? Smack talk? This is an American term that makes me laugh. I simply speak the truth. I'm an Irish man.”  Conor McGregor

Wherever you go and whatever you do, May the luck of the Irish be there with you.

Distant hills look green.

He is bad that will not take advice, but he is a thousand times worse that takes every advice.

Say little but say it well.

A ride, even on a goat, is better by far than having to walk.

A good word never broke a tooth.

May you live to be a hundred years, with one extra year to repent!

If you lie down with dogs you'll rise with fleas.

A drink precedes a story.
