 STATE OF THE UNION

The big story this week, of course, was the President’s first State of the Union address. Even the fake news media couldn’t help but acknowledge that President Trump was “inspirational” as he called for unity to find solutions for some of our biggest challenges. While the President highlighted some of his greatest successes in office, including our booming economy, he also placed a spotlight on everyday heroes and Americans who reflect the finest generosity of spirit.

BOOMING ECONOMY

Addressing our booming economy, the President noted that “Our massive tax cuts provide tremendous relief for the middle class and small business.” This is just the beginning of benefits reaching the front door of middle class Americans. Starting this week, 91% of American workers will also start to receive a pay raise as their personal income tax cut takes effect. New jobs and massive investments in our economy are being announced by the day thanks to President Trump’s historic tax cuts.
 

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION On immigration, President Trump reminded us of the horrific priced paid by innocent victims of criminal illegal immigrants and MS-13 gang members. He offered Democrats a remarkable deal for DACA recipients so long as his other pillars are addressed, including ending chain migration, eliminating the visa lottery system, and providing an allocation of $25 billion to build a wall and secure our border. The President said he is "extending an open hand to work with the members of both parties…to protect our citizens of every background, color, religion and creed…(and) to defend Americans…Because Americans are dreamers too.”

AMERICAN GRIT Highlighting a universal need that should receive strong bipartisan support, President Trump called for the biggest infrastructure deal in American history, when he proposed a $1.5 trillion investment that includes local, state, federal, and private sector collaboration. He said: “We will build gleaming new roads, bridges, highways, railways, and waterways all across our land. And we will do it with American heart, American hands, and American grit."

AMERICAN DREAM The President highlighted acts of courage, bravery, and sacrifice by everyday people, including a boy who honored our fallen heroes, a police officer and his wife who adopted the baby of a drug user, a Korean dissident who struggled through atrocities to be free, and many more heroic stories. Profiling these acts of courage and inspiring us to believe the American dream is once again in the reach of all citizens, President Trump reported: “…the State of our Union is strong because our people are strong. And together we are building a safe, strong and proud America.”
