On November 28, State Senator Art Linares (R-33) attended a ceremony to rename the Deep River Town Hall in honor of Richard H. Smith. The longtime first selectman was a beloved fixture in the community. He died unexpectedly in 2016.

“Dick Smith gave so much of himself to Deep River and its residents,” Sen. Linares said. “Naming the town hall after him is a perfect way to memorialize the impact he has had on the community.”

Sen. Linares represents the communities of Chester, Clinton, Colchester, Deep River, East Haddam, East Hampton, Essex, Haddam, Lyme, Old Saybrook, Portland and Westbrook.
