“This was an act of terror.” Said Mayor Bill De Blasio, in a press conference regarding the tragedy that occurred as a pickup truck from Home Depot veered onto the bike path at West St., a few blocks north of Chambers St. in lower Manhattan earlier today. As of the time that I write this, 8 people are not going home to their families tonight, as they lay dead, killed by a man,. who plowed through a bicycle path, before hitting a school bus, jumping out of the pick-up truck, shouting “Allahu Akbar!” (Reported by The New York Post), brandishing fake guns, before finally being shot by police, and taken into custody by Police. The suspect has been identified as Sayfullo Saipov, a 29-year-old who has addresses in New Jersey, and Tampa, Florida
Unknown are the numbers of wounded or walking wounded. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the victims, their families, and the first responders. As part of our own, “9/11 Project”, The Publisher of The Middletown Insider, Bill Boylan, myself, and my family were just on those very streets, a little over a month ago. As part of that project, and a personal interest of mine, I have been studying ISIS, and their tactics, especially since in the past few weeks, they lost their self-proclaimed Capital, Raqqa, Syria.

Though it is so very early in this case, and it is not yet known if this is an ISIS attack, ISIS’ Leader, Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, has been known to say to young Muslim’s around the world looking to join, or support ISIS, that because they are losing ground in the Middle East, and going there has become increasingly difficult, that they don’t necessarily have to go to the Kalifate in Syria, or Iraq, to train to carry out Jihad throughout the world; That they could carry out Jihad wherever they are, by whatever means they believe they can further the Kalifate for ISIS. Truck attacks have unfortunately become a remarkably popular form of attack.

New York City is an identifiable beacon of freedom, that is recognizable by almost anyone in this world, it doesn’t surprise me that another attack has happened, but it certainly saddens me beyond what most could ever understand. It’s very early in this incident, but as I heard the news, I cried, I prayed, and then I wrote, because that’s what I do. May God Bless America.
