Dr. Srinivasan and family |
Glastonbury, CT (July 10, 2017) —
Prasad Srinivasan, declared candidate for Governor in 2018, announced
that he has broken the $200,000 barrier in qualifying contributions, and
is less than $45,000 away from the State’s Citizen Election Program
(CEP) threshold.
“We
have full steam as we enter the third quarter,” Dr. Srinivasan said,
“and we expect to reach $250,000 by the end of the summer.” The leader
among declared gubernatorial candidates after the first quarter, Dr.
Srinivasan has now received a total of $205,153 in qualifying
contributions, and is nearly five-sixths of the way to the $250,000 CEP
threshold, ten months before the Republican Convention is scheduled to
convene in May 2018.
“Credit
goes to our many statewide supporters for keeping up the momentum,” Dr.
Srinivasan said. “This quarter was particularly challenging, with an
incredibly busy schedule at the State Capitol. As always, fundraising
took a back seat to representing my constituents in Glastonbury, dealing
with the State’s budget crisis, and treating patients at my medical
practice."
“Yet
after the close of the regular legislative session, our supporters
really picked up the pace and allowed us to finish the quarter with a
strong performance in June,” Dr. Srinivasan said.
Through the second quarter, Dr. Srinivasan has received 2,397 contributions, in amounts
ranging
from $5 to $100. Once again, Dr. Srinivasan, who has lived and worked
in Greater Hartford for more than 30 years, received nearly half of his
contributions (or 49.6%) from outside of Hartford County, demonstrating
his support throughout the State. In June 2017
alone,
Dr. Srinivasan received nearly $45,000 in contributions, his
second-most successful month since announcing his candidacy in December.
“Voters
around the State remain interested in my message,” Dr. Srinivasan said.
“I am humbled by their support, and I look forward to building upon
this momentum after reaching the CEP threshold.”
Dr. Prasad Srinivasan is a four-time State Representative from Glastonbury. A practicing physician in Greater Hartford, Dr. Srinivasan has been elected to office by overwhelming margins ranging from twelve to thirty-five points. Dr. Srinivasan, Assistant Republican Leader, currently serves as the Ranking Member for the Legislature’s Public Health Committee. Dr. Srinivasan also serves on the Judiciary and Environmental Committees.
