Republican Congressmen targeted and shot at Baseball Game
James T. Hodgkinson, a Bernie Sanders
supporter, targeted Republicans by opening fire at members of congress
practicing for the annual bipartisan baseball charity event. House
Majority Whip Steve Scalise
and three other people were wounded Wednesday morning when Hodgkinson
opened fire on members of the Republican congressional baseball team as
they were practicing in Alexandria, Virginia. Rep. Steve Scalise is
still in critical condition. Speaker Ryan took the floor Wednesday and
stated that "an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us.”
Sponsors drop Shakespeare In The Park after Trump lookalike assassination
Delta Airlines and Bank of America are backing out of Shakespeare in the Park
over the use of a Trump lookalike in the production of “Julius
Caesar.” A golden-haired Donald Trump lookalike wearing a long red tie
and business suit portrays Caesar, who gets knifed to death on stage.
“No matter what your political stance may be, the graphic staging of
Julius Caesar at this summer’s Free Shakespeare in the Park does not
reflect Delta Air Lines’ values. Their artistic and creative
direction crossed the line on the standards of good taste. We have notified them of our decision to end our sponsorship as the official airline of The Public Theater effective immediately,” Delta said. Bank of America believes the production was intended to provoke and offend, and the company decided to withdraw its funding of the production — though it will still fund Public Theater.

Blumenthal Leads Congressional Democrats in Lawsuit Against Trump
Sen. Blumenthal is leading congressional Democrats in a lawsuit
against President Donald Trump charging that the president has violated
a centuries-old anti-bribery provision of the Constitution by accepting
payments from foreign nations through his vast business empire. The
lawsuit, which is expected to be filed Wednesday in federal court in the
District of Columbia, says Trump has refused to disclose the foreign
payments he has received and is in violation of the Constitution's
foreign emoluments clause that prohibits government officials from
receiving gifts from foreign governments without first consulting
Congress.
Fed raises rates, unveils cuts to bond holdings in sign of confidence
The Federal Reserve
raised interest rates on Wednesday for the second time in three months
and said it would begin cutting its holdings of bonds and other
securities this year, signaling its confidence in a growing U.S. economy
and strengthening job market. In lifting its benchmark lending rate by
a quarter percentage point to a target range of 1.00 percent to 1.25
percent and forecasting one more hike this year, the Fed seemed to
largely brush off a recent run of mixed economic data.
North Korea 'most urgent' threat to security: Mattis
U.S. Defense Secretary James Mattis
said on Monday that North Korea's advancing missile and nuclear
programs were the "most urgent" threat to national security and that its
means to deliver them had increased in speed and scope. "The regime’s
nuclear weapons program is a clear and present danger to all, and the
regime’s provocative actions, manifestly illegal under international
law, have not abated despite United Nations’ censure and sanctions,"
Mattis said in a written statement to the House Armed Services
Committee.
