Sen. Len Suzio and Rep. Emil “Buddy” Altobello
on Apr. 23 joined with local officials
in Middlefield to mark Volunteer Firefighter Day in Connecticut. The
event helped to kick off National Volunteer Week to spread the word
about the need for more volunteer firefighters and other department
personnel. Volunteer Firefighter Day is part of Everyday
Hero CT, a program dedicated to increasing the number of volunteer
firefighters throughout the state. A partnership of the Connecticut Fire
Chiefs Association and the International Association of Fire Chiefs,
the Everyday Hero CT campaign is a two-year Volunteer
Workforce Solutions (VWS) initiative designed to address the shortage
of volunteer firefighters in Connecticut. Interested volunteers can
visit
www.EverydayHeroCT.org or call 1-800-Fire-Line.
