HARTFORD – Representative Doug Dubitsky (R-47) is applauding the award of two separate Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) grants to towns in the 47th District for much needed capital improvements.

Lisbon will receive $435,000 to fix hazardous sidewalks along Sergeants Way, and Sprague will receive $420,000 to construct a cold water shed for the Public Works Department to protect equipment.

Rep. Dubitsky offered his strong support for these projects which he said are necessary to improve the safety of each community.

“I’ve been working hard to get our small eastern Connecticut towns back onto Hartford’s map. The towns of our district do not have large tax bases and were being left out in the cold when the state gave out grant money,” said Rep. Dubitsky. “I am thankful that Lisbon and Sprague have now received this funding for their important infrastructure projects.”

Last year, the Town of Chaplin, another 47th District town, received a $200,000 STEAP grant to repair the Darling Pond Dam. Together, the towns of the 47th District have received over $1 million in STEAP grant funding during Rep. Dubitsky’s first term of office.
