Just over a month ago, legislators were called back into a special
session at the state capitol to patch together yet another unbalanced,
irresponsible state budget. The fix, much like the budget plan it's
intended to fix, was again crafted in a back room by Governor Malloy and
Democrat leaders with little input from members of either party,
despite the bipartisan budget talks that preceded it.
During that session, I gave a short speech (https://youtu.be/4VHj_W5DhZQ) and made two notable predictions. First that we would be back fixing another deficit before long. And second, that the creation of a so-called transportation "lock-box" is nothing more than a gimmick and worse, one designed to justify an increase in the gas tax.
I had no idea at the time that it would take such little time for that prediction to come true.
