PRESS RELEASE:
Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, who represents our city in the U.S. House of Representatives, will hold a press conference Thursday, January 31 at 11 am to discuss her SAFER Streets Act and the need for stronger laws to prevent future gun violence.
Joe Bango, the Connecticut small business owner who proposed the legislation to DeLauro, will be present to hand over his AR-15 to the State Police.
DeLauro’s priorities are: preventing guns from falling into the hands of violent criminals, getting dangerous assault weapons off the streets, improving our mental health system so it properly helps those in need and giving law enforcement officials the tools they need to keep the public safe. She is a member of the House of Representatives Task Force on Gun Violence Prevention.
In addition to Bango, DeLauro will be joined by Lt. J. Paul Vance, Department Spokesman/Media Relations Commander, Connecticut State Police, and Col. Danny Stebbins, Deputy Commissioner, Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection, Connecticut State Police
