Guest Blog: A Review of 2016 Movie

"2016" --- Movie ReviewBy Tim D. Enchanter
Let me preface this by saying that I value Truth and loathe Lies … always have … always
will. Regardless of my political and ideological leanings (which will not be discussed today),
I believe there is never a good excuse to lie about your political opponent. Whether the
subject is Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, Ron Paul, or Barack Obama, my feelings are the same.
There is no need to lie when you have truth on your side and can present your ideas logically,
rationally, calmly and explain them in ways everyone can understand.
That is why I liked the movie, 2016 by Dinesh D’Souza. He is an academic professional
who researches the truth and postulates his theory without lies or malice. If you are
expecting a hit piece which will tell you what a horrible person President Obama is, then you
will be sorely disappointed. There is nothing insulting or slanderous presented, regardless of
what some avid Obama supporters may think.
For example, the interview with the President’s brother in Kenya does not show anyone
saying anything nasty about Barack Obama either Junior or Senior. In fact, contrary to Rush
Limbaugh’s idea of the President not helping his brother, said brother does not want a single
thing. He holds no bad feelings and proudly says that the President of the United States has
greater things to deal with and should not waste time taking care of a brother who needs no
help. That singular moment struck me because I was expecting some character bashing. Talk
to each of my two brothers and you may hear about two different people, each of them being
me.

Seeing the President’s sibling exhibit pride instead of sibling rivalry cemented in my
mind the attitude of the movie to give an unbiased analysis without prejudice. Dinesh is
obviously a scholar (educated at the same University as the President) who is not out to
attack the President personally but instead try to understand him in order to see where he is
taking this nation.
Ironically, now that it has been a few weeks since I saw this movie, I am only slightly
shocked to see a map of the Middle East on the News which matches the same map shown at
the end of this movie. Somehow, the word “prophetic” just does not quite cover it.
Even then, the movie does not try to paint the President as some Anti-Christ figure as
one would expect. Instead, it shows the viewer how he grew up, was raised, and how the
culture he lived in shaped him to explain his point of view with actual sympathy. Dinesh does
not share the same philosophy and even marvels at how two people can grow up in similar
circumstances and have philosophies that are polar opposites.
Still, current reality and current events serve to show how accurate this analysis may
be because what is happening now was predicted. If nothing else, you should see this movie
in order to understand who our President is, where he came from, where he is taking us, and
what is coming. Then it is up to you to determine how you feel about it and how you want to
vote.
The most common phrase coming from those who see the movie and who proudly voted
for the first black president is, “I wish I had known all this four years ago.” That is the true
purpose of this movie. To show you what you did not know because of a news media which
actively hid everything from you.
The self-described “main stream media” went through Sarah Palin’s emails and watched
her family from next door like anthropologists watching apes. But the same people dismissed
every news item concerning their “Golden Boy” as a racist attack. In fact, I fully expect to be
accused of racism for using the term “Golden Boy”, no matter how twisted the thinking needs
to be to justify the accusation. Watch the old “Golden Grahams” cereal commercial about
the “Golden Boy” to see the analogy of someone beloved by all who does everything perfect
the first time without trying.
This movie draws back the veil that prevented you from learning about who Barack
Obama is and truly embodies its own catch phrase, “Love him or Hate him, you do not Know
him.” Watch this movie and you will know him. Then it is up to you to decide how you feel
about him. Just make sure you and your friends do so before Election Day so you can each
make an informed decision.

“I am a lone voice crying in the wilderness and I know you can hear me but will you listen?”
