Campaign for your Rights Workshop – Guilford, CT

Editor's Note: Unless gun owners and others concerned about preserving civil rights and the US Constitution unite to support the best candidates nominated, (no petitioning or write-in has a chance), we will end up with another debacle like we had in 2014, which gave us another four years of Malloy and other gun grabbers.  United we stand, divided we fall.

Gun control groups are marching on. They are using anti-gun politicians to infringe on our rights. The only way to stop attacks on the 2nd Amendment is to help Pro2A candidates win in 2018. While most gun owners wish to be left alone, the anti-gun crowd will not cease in their efforts.
CCDL members are invited to participate in this FREE workshop to gain the necessary knowledge to become active in fighting the anti-gun machine.
Where: Guilford Sportsmen's Association - 501 Hart Road, Guilford, CT  06437
When: Saturday, June 23th from 11:00am until 1:00pm
Agenda:
  • Basics of Campaign Strategies
  • Importance of Your Involvement
  • What Gun Control Groups and sympathizers are doing
  • Examples of Effective Victories from Our Side
  • Q&A
2A candidates need our help!
One of the biggest concerns many legislators have is who will be there to help them win re-election if they vote with us. Too often we hear about how gun-grabbing politicians have people working on their campaigns. If we are going to stop this, like it or not we need to become more political than we have been in the past. While we have a positive track record on some campaigns, we will need more successes.
Please join us in helping the Pro2A movement win in 2018. RSVP today (Name and Town) via email to membership@ccdl.us or phone: 240-320-7075
Help good candidates win this year.

9/11 Memorial and Museum Marks 16 Years

National September 11 Memorial & Museum
Next week will mark 16 years since the formal end of recovery operations at the World Trade Center. On May 30, 2002, the Last Column from the original World Trade Center site was ceremonially removed, marking the official close of the nine-month recovery effort.

Each year, on May 30, we gather to remember all those who responded to the World Trade Center following the 9/11 attacks and put themselves in harm's way to help or save others. Starting just hours after the towers fell, these remarkable men and women risked their own lives and health, in hopes of rescue, in support of families whose loved ones had been killed, and to pave the way for rebuilding and renewal. We owe each of them a debt of gratitude for their selfless commitment and perseverance.

Memorial Day is about remembering those members of the armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country and community. Before you begin your holiday weekend, please join me in also remembering the courageous men and women of the 9/11 rescue and recovery.

To every first responder and recovery worker, representatives of relief organizations, and volunteers, from New York to Ohio, who came when we needed them most, thank you. Sixteen years later, your service and resolve continue to represent the very best of New York City — and America.

One year ago, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum announced a commitment to create a dedicated space on the Memorial plaza to recognize the tremendous capacity of the human spirit, as exemplified during the rescue, recovery, and relief efforts following the 9/11 attacks, and to honor the sacrifice of all who are now suffering or have died from 9/11-related illnesses caused by exposure to toxins at the World Trade Center site. Please look for an email next week with an important announcement related to this new development at the Memorial.

Wishing you a meaningful Memorial Day,

Alice M. Greenwald
President & CEO, 9/11 Memorial & Museum

The Official Mascot of the Middletown Republican Town Committee

Tippi - the official mascot of the Middletown Republican Town Committee.

Tippi, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, is a patriot and, when not lounging, is preparing for the Middletown Memorial Day Parade. Tippi adds as a footnote, "While I am a proud American...I am also American Royalty.  Hence all of the lounging and my penchant for living like Meghan Markle.  No need to marry into royalty; I AM royalty!"

Middletown Board (Bored) of Ethics?

Councilman Kleckowsky
Last October, Councilman Deb Kleckowski filed an ethics complaint against then Democrat gubernatorial candidate and Middletown mayor, Dan Drew.  The complaint alleged Mayor Drew illegally and improperly obtained the personal contact information of Middletown police officers and firemen for the purpose of soliciting campaign contributions.

The information was obtained through the city's Human Resources Department and was intended for a purpose unrelated to the mayor's official duties.  This is a violation of Section 40-7 A and B of the city's Ethics Code, other parts of the Ethics Code and Connecticut General Statutes.

Democrat Mayor Drew admitted doing this, but claimed the confidential information given to him was an "accident" or "mistake".  When he learned of the "mistake", he apologized, returned any campaign contributions he received from his solicitation, and destroyed the list of city employee's home addresses.  Or so he says.

Upon examination of the complaint, the Board of Ethics determined the mayor did indeed violate the city ethics code, as well as Connecticut statutes.  They determined that; whether or not the violation was intentional was irrelevant; it was nevertheless a violation.

"Accordingly, the Middletown board of Ethics finds that the Mayor violated the Code of Ethics when he obtained confidential information which was used to solicit political contributions for a campaign for election to public office."

Mayor Drew
Then, in a stunning turnaround, Ethics Board members John. F. Shaw, Gregory M. Harris and Stanley Sadinsky found the following:

"The Board has considered these claims carefully but finds that the conduct of the Mayor as alleged and as conceded to not (sic) reach the level of violations (sic) of the Code of Ethics."

You may draw your own conclusions.

The Exploitation of School Children is Only a Donor Button Away

US Senate candidate, Matthew Corey Photo from Fox61

The following statement is from US Senate candidate and businessman, Matthew Corey.  It is published here as a public service.  Please consider visiting Matt's website and making a donation to his campaign.

It only took Senator Murphy a few moments after the Las Vegas shooting before he was out raising money from this horrible crime.  This is a morbid way to feed from people’s emotions, without having to come up with real solutions.

And after the recent atrocity committed in Santa Fe, TX, he is again exploiting the deaths of innocents.  In his tweet of May 19, Murphy said; “I support the real 2nd Amendment, not the imaginary 2nd Amendment. And the real #2A isn’t absolute.  It allows Congress to wake up to reality and ban these assault rifles that are designed for one purpose only - to kill as many people as fast as possible.”

Senator Murphy, a lawyer and career politician, seems to think the US Constitution doesn’t mean what it says and is somehow “flexible”.  To paraphrase Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black’s address to the University of Florida School of Law; “There are absolutes in the Constitution; it was written by men who knew what words meant and who meant their prohibitions to be absolute.”  And, “Our duty (the Court’s) is to interpret the Constitution as it was intended and not to suit the passions of the day.”

Communist gun-grabber, Sen. Murphy
Let’s tell it like it is:  Because of the bewildering failure of Congress (and state officials) to address the root causes of such violence and prepare to deal with it, a green light is given to would-be shooters who pervert inaction into endorsement.

Senator Murphy has no intention of protecting our most vulnerable:

Republicans Must Unite

Republican candidates and voters need to get it together long before the August primary.  Candidates need to pow wow and the weaker ones need to drop out. Voters need to coalesce around a single candidate.   Otherwise, we will have a repeat of the 2014 debacle.

This we cannot afford!  Peter Lumaj and Joe Markley will have a great deal of influence in this.  Voters need to listen to them and follow their lead, even if it means holding their noses and voting for someone other than their first choice.

For the first time in decades, (if not ever) there is a chance for Republicans to take the House, Senate and Governor's office.  Yes, I believe in principal; I also believe in pragmatism.

If Boughton is on the ticket, tens of thousands of Republican voters will not vote for him and many of those voters may not go to the poll, at all, making it more likely that Democrats will keep control of the House and/or Senate and the governorship.

WE CANNOT AFFORD THIS!
