Today marks the tragic third anniversary of the February 7, 2010, explosion at the Kleen Energy natural gas powered electric generating plant under construction in Middletown, Connecticut, that killed six workers and injured at least 50 others. Several people injured were never able fully recover, left permanently disabled and unable to work . Since, Connecticut legislators enacted a law prohibiting gas blowout procedures such as the one causing the explosion. The law is named after Dylan Thomas Crabb, the 7 year old son of victim Rob Crabb.
Many fail to realize how dangerous the construction industry is. We at the Middletown Insider remember the fallen workers today as heroes, for having given their lives doing a dangerous job to benefit the community.
