That buy the way we wont do unless forced to by price. A majority of scientists agree that the world has already reached its peak in oil production.

Oil companies know this but they wont admit it. Some of the largest suppliers of oil in the world are drilling off shore when they have the largest reserves right below them.. why? It costs so much more to get it out in the ocean then right below your feet.

The reason is I believe is that it would be more wise to get the oil that difficult to get now then worry about getting that oil when its more difficult without the abundance of it to help fuel that quest. Get the 'hard to get' stuff now. Then when things get more desperate you are safe with the oil you have right below your feet. I think the US knows this. And NOT DRILLING (as much)at our own reserves safeguards it for when thing get worse.

But back to TODAY. Today our oil prices will be inching up every year and its not going down.. ever. We, and the world wont stop its consumption. The TAX on gas cant be relied upon. If the price of gas gets very high people wont buy as much and the tax money will be diminished.

CAPPING the gas tax sends a signal that our state government cant rely on its tax revenue and it will reduce the burden on the citizens to have spend more of their hard earned money.

Its not going to be fun... but the day is coming to an end where we drive Hummers, Jeeps, and Suv's for groceries. Our cars, buildings, and ways to generate power are going to completely change in this century and it will be a harder struggle if we ignore that fact that the abundance of oil is going to disappear.

Darrell Lucas
Hunting Hill Ave.Darrell Lucashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11832727901658675982noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-239070883775529047.post-6103255134845957362012-02-24T10:56:06.414-05:002012-02-24T10:56:06.414-05:00Brenda makes a good point. I am almost 100% certain global oil companies won't willingly choose to lower their profit per barrel just to lower US gas prices. You will be more likely to drop the global price of oil per barrel, leading to a lesser price at the pump world-wide, which will certainly face a reaction by the OPEC nations to cut back on their oil to drive the prices back up.

It's not the supply of oil that's the problem, it's the profit-seeking by the multinational oil conglomerates.

That said, I'd like to see gas below $1 a gallon.Tipahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07828719420913764824noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-239070883775529047.post-51043997364802222912012-02-22T09:09:05.814-05:002012-02-22T09:09:05.814-05:00For more great photos from SteadyJohn:
