Local Artist David Schulz Takes Swipe At Conservatives

Is it ok to hate and persecute those who think differently than you? Again in Middletown,  if they are conservatives it is socially acceptable to. Local artist David P. Schulz distinguished fine artist and  Ridge Road resident known for his progressive  politically charged black & white lawn signs, gets personal by lashing out at former Mayor and veteran attorney Sebastian Giuliano for his response to our essay challenge 'What Does the 2nd Amendment Mean to You?" Giuliano's essay can be read here:
http://www.middletowninsider.com/2013/01/guest-blog-giuliano-discusses-2nd.html

When one of our favorite & frequent guest bloggers Fred Carrol shared the link on his facebook page Schulz took offense.

Schulz's lawn signs from 2008,
Eye article.

Schulz writes: "What a jackass. he thinks we should have the individual right to be armed equal to the arms in the possession of the government."

Apparently free speech is only for some? Who does he think he is Chris Calabrese?

No one is arguing Schulz's or anyone's First Amendment rights to free speech here, in fact we would be first to defend it.

In the spirit of this the Insider Staff has asked Schulz to take the same challenge and provide us with an essay with his interpretation of the 2nd Amendment and to elaborate in more intelligent way which we are sure he (Schulz) is capable of as to why Sebastian Giuliano's interpretation makes him in his words a "jackass".
No one- liner lawn signs accepted Mr. Schulz..

Schultz always ignores the negativity of hte 8 bubble heads on the council.. Oh right, they are dEMS

At the Centerpoint meetings, Schultz even admitted that DAN Drew was a liar with regasrd to the WESLEYAN bookstore, how come there is no sign outside his house that states that?

How aobut Jeep going to China. Didn't Romney tell us that was going to happen?

At least admit you are a Liberal hack!

There is no way this guy can write an essay. His thought process is limited to only 3 cue cards

THe Common Council has been DEM controlled since 1991 !!!!! Over 20 years my friend.. Wake up!

Dear ANON 1:01

Yes! He should put that on a sign. The Dems control and have controled every board in town since 1991 or so.. Let's be real David!

veteran attorney guiliano? Is this some form of sarcasm like Susan Biscewicz claiming she was a practicing attorney? he couldn't make a living as an attorney!

I thought Seb has law practice with Seb Scalarno awhile back?

Wow! Very disappointed in David, one would think that with his 1st Amendment practices he would yield a bit toward Giuliano.. Typical liberal.. What's good for me it's good for everybody else.

He is another tolerate liberal/progressive. He believes that we should be tolerate of his views "which I am" but he does not share the same tolerance with those with differing views. He is in a long line with other hypocrites from the left and free speech.

And Bill, I don't think a "tolerate"(sic) person calls someone with an opposing view, a hypocrite.

I also don't think any web publication which slings mud anonymously has the right to criticize someone who does exactly what they do, but with one difference. He isn't afraid to use his name.

The photo from the Eye article is credited & linked - see small text at the end of the article- as a courtesy, however it need not be. Blogs using photos to discuss & provide commentary a current event as a reference is perfectly legal. The image is also cropped and altered and used all over google already by others. Ours are cropped to thumbnail size from a screen capture of the Eye piece, and altered.

We extended an offer to Schulz to elaborate on the name calling. We allowed your comment Mr. McKeon, as we unlike the Eye do not censor comments- signed or unsigned for fear of retaliation from opposing viewpoints. You are entitled to your opinion, as we are entitled to this blog you seem to despise but keep reading and commenting on. The Eye at various times had bloggers anonymous and with pseudo-names only known to authors as well, but that is neither here nor there. If we leaned more left, we bet we wouldn't be having this conversation. Can't two blogs exist Ed?

By the way, It is odd that you are not posting your views and alternate zoning proposal that would contradict Mayor Drew's & the Democrats endorsed Centerplan development for Washington Street on the Eye, but using facebook instead- why not take a more public platform? Please send us a detailed transparent line-item BOE budget- citizens are still waiting.

Good for you MI for calling out hypocritcal Middletown Eye!

You are 100% correct, the Eye does not post any views that do not support Mr. Ed's zoning preferences.

Even though he is a member of the BOE budget committee, and quite vocal in the past about budget transparency, not only has the Eye not posted a detailed budget, there still is not one on the school's website. He also won't tell you that they missed their own required deadline for submitting the budget to the city, so they changed the deadline!

What a bully ! I hope you don't remove any photos or anything like that. MI is right, if this site were to the left it would be different. Ed is a ULTA hypocrite- Where was Ed's story about Bianco and the new development - NIMBY my ass! Jeff is Ed's friend so it's ignored and Jeff can rake in the bucks!! Losers!

SD at the Eye rewrote a couple of articles last summer dealing with a murder at Remington Rand and used his name for the byline. I think he changed 2 words or something, but since the PRESS nad THe EYE are like a stragne set of liberal children i'ts okay to flirt with plaerism. If the Insider were to the left, Ed would have a happy grin, but since this site is (mostly) to the right Ed cna't stand it. He has let down al ot of people as a BOE guy. Okay, now he's back to being an activist, but where's his wrecking ball credibility. When his campaign stickers said ED 4 ED - t hey were indeed telling the truth.

Bill Wilson said...

Ed shouldn't you be worried about changing zoning to fit your needs and wants on Washington Street and elsewhere.

Mr. Shultz is an opinionated progressive who has his right to say what he wants. But others have the very same right to speak their minds on this issue, without being attacked by Mr. Shultz. Tolerance is not big on the progressive side of issues like the Second Amendment.

On a side note I still like to see a line item budget from the BOE. No not what I can see online but one that breaks down everything from salaries for everyone that works for the Board of Education.

Ed 4 Ed. True colors come out. Nuff said.

Why doesn't Ed use the EYe to advance his agendas... ?

Anonymous said...

I heard he took his signs down? Damn hypocrite!

Anonymous said...

what you talkin about Willis, Ed4Ed does use the Eye to advance his agendas. 1st it was his petition to keep McMouth, then it was his BOE election, and latest is to selectively post NIMBY blogs critical of development near his neighborhood (while conveniently omitting that were it not for $65K of taxpayer funds he received for his house he wouldn't even be living there.). Comments submitted against his POV never get posted in his EYE.

David Schulz, didn't your wife work for the Russel library? For someone who is complaining about government, he's getting support from said government.

I can't belive he was tickd off aobut the photojpeg thingee, wtf? The Eye takes stuff all the time with regard to materials, but when SOMEONE else does it then the action becomes WRONG or EVIL. Give me a break

-NIMBY

Not in my back yard

Most people love EM in town, but his actions of late have been beyond strange. Abandon the EYE and his vote for me (ED4ED) campaign to add transparency to the BOE and release the budget. Focus on on the Wesleyan Bookstore issue with the hopes of as the poster above said "NIMBY." Would EM be as concerned if the Wesleyan Bookstore/Starbucks were being build in Westfield on East Street?

I ask Ed this: Would the Ed of 6 years ago be happy with today's Ed? Is it about the issue or about the money?
